I would be greatly thankfull if you could give me some hints and especially pictures on how the front grille and front fenders should be bolted to the frame. Even measurements for the boltholes would be great. The thing is that the frame I have for my -36 PU is from a -37 Fordor sedan...

Please help me out on this..

Maybe tonight I can take some pics of the bare frame on my 36.
There are inner fender panels that bolt to the frame and the fenders attach to that.

The grill is free floating and attached to the fenders. It had an air dam/splash ban that helped direct air into the grill. It mounts to the bottom of the grill but isn't necessary for installation.

Ok. Thanks! That's great! I'll wait for those then.
Does the cowl bolt on to the same holes as the -37 fordor's cowl? Should there be some kind of rubber or something between the cowl and frame?

If anyone else have more tips let me know

I am not sure about the fordoor frame but I always use a bit of rubber and mount the body with small valve springs on the bolts.

Here is a pdf link to the frame specs.

Ill expand on what Root Said and put it in order of attack for you to build yours to where it will fit:

The Grille Shell bolts to the Radiator. The Radiator bolts to the Frame at the bottom on each side, then has the two Radiator Support Rods that bolt to the Cowl. Determine this distance by your hood. It will be the determing factor for placing your Radiator.

The inner fenders panels bolt to the frame (beside the engine). They butt up against the front of the cab. Straighten them back out, they are probably sagging pretty badly like both sets I have due to years of peopel sitting on the fenders and the braces breaking.

The Front Inner Fender Braces Bolt to the front of the frame (they look like a big horseshoe hanging off the frame when bolted on w/o a fender to cover it) with three bolts each. These are also what the headlight stands bolt to.

There is another small inner fender brace that goes to the frame but I never figured out how they go back on, so I dont have them bolted on. They are sitting on the shelf. I need to do this sometime.

The Fenders then bolt onto the Fender braces ( Only by a small little bolt under the lip of the fender, and the Headlight Stand. The fenders bolt to the inner fender panel in the arch of the fender, and two (maybe three) bolts on the grille shell. This is usually a broken bolt hole with the metal of the innfer fender panel torn away totally, and the bolt hole on the grille shell ripped away. There is another bolt that goes on the rear of the fender through the cab into a captive nut. The captive nut on both sides of my cab were torn loose. The is one more bolt behind that that bolts to the frame under the rocker panel of the cab. There is a rear fender brace that bolts to the lip of the front fender at the read of said fender and bolts to the frame. There is then three bolts that bolt to the running board.

Since your not using a Pick-up Frame, I would assume none of the hole will work for you, thus you must formulate a plan of attack to get everything to fit together.

I would use the steps in order that I said to get everything to fit. Your Hood really determines the measurment of the grille shell. Everything else just bolts on after that.

Also, I would do it however Root says. He is where I got a lot of my info.

Oops.. Must be a record thread bump… :)
Anyhow.. I started doing some metalwork on the inner fenders for the PU this week and what I started to wonder is if there should be some sort of seal between the frame and inner fenders or are they solidly bolted to the frame? Same Q about how the Cowl is bolted?
I have no info from mine as it was disassembled when I got it...

Sorry. Read through the old replays again..
I had a closer look at the parts and it seems that the pickup innerfenders bolt right up in 37 sedan frame holes! Same with the cowl and the fender horseshoe brace.
I suppose these parts should be bolted solidly straight on the frame?

Things are falling into places when I started to dig deeper… :)
Welded the right innefender today and test fitted on the frame. They fit perfectly to the -37 frame..! Same bolt holes etc..

Also tested to fit the cowl and noticed that the cowl will bolt to the fender too. And when fitted correctly to each other there was also holes for the cowl in the frame that fit. So this is a positive progress in many ways… :D
