Anybody know where I can get this patch duplicated? It was on my Dads flight jacket from WWII. 92nd Bomb Group. It's embroidered on kindof a fuzzy velour like stuff. Thanks
maybe try a local sewing store. without an already made design, the only way to do it might be to digitize the photo w/ a specific comp. program, then have the design sent to an embroidery machine. i only offer this idea because my mom is an avid sewer and i've overheard this type of conversation. hope this helps.
When I was in scouting, we'd have event patches made for all of the different major events. Basically we worked with an embroidery company and sent them designs on napkins. Their art department would do a rendering with color and send it back. You approve and they make your patch. Lots of different ways to do the actual embroidery, you can go cheap and have just the main colors embroidered on white, or go with a fully embroidered patch. It may look a little too new if you went with a fully embroidered one, so keep that in mind. They shoud also have different materials that they can use for the cloth part. To find one just google "custom embroidery", or look for one of those kiosks at the local shopping mall. They might be able to do it, too.
Neat as hell. Been looking for some art for my A. If you find some one to do this send me a pm. I'd like to get a couple of the patches. I'd send some money for set up and patches. Let me know.
I agree with the digitization route, I just wanted to chime in and ask if you googled 92nd Bomb Group. I did, thinking someone might already repop the patch. Instead, I discovered that there are several variations in existence. -Dave
Just an aside:that character with the bomb in his hand is from an old comic strip called,"Alley Oop" and that is him.Had a song written about him in the early 60's by the Hollywood Argyles.
Yup, "He got a chauffeur that's a genuine dinosaur (Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop) And he can knuckle your head before you count to four"
When I had my T-bucket the guys here at work called it the Eddie Munster Mobil. Then a coupla weeeks ago when I got my A going some called it Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang. I put a stop to that real quick. I told them if there was going to be a name put on it I'd do it. They asked what I would call it. I said seeing how it is built prehistoric(flatty,etc.etc.) I would call it Ally OOp. I've been lookin for some art to put on the cowl. Looks like I found it.
Send a pm to CheaterRome here on the hamb, I am pretty sure he is the guy that does jacket art and patches. He does excellent work!
WWII Squadron patches have gone sky high in the last few years. Becareful with whom you entrust it to. Ive encountered more painted leather ones, than the one you have, which is a wool version. Ive seen very few of the wool types, and would be the personal history to have a leather painted version made. Just my opinion
Thanks for all the help, I would really like to get it duplicated as embroidery but would like a painted leather version as well. I'm hoping to find someone who can do the job from pictures as I really don't want to let it out of my hands not so much for the monetary value but for the value attached to my father. I know what he went through to wear this patch. He is gone now and I have little to remember him by. One of you posted a pm asking if it was ok to use the art on his car. I am honored by that request. I plan to use it on one of my bikes. **** I'm gettinall sentimental Thanks again everybody.
http://www.327th.org/ The patch is the 327th squadron of the 92 Bomb Group. Link is to their site with good pix of your patch. They might have repops avaliable. Is your dad still around? He might like the site. (If he isn't I'm sorry -- lost my dad [Navy WWII vet] last month. The"Greatest Generation" is getting thinned out.)
Went to web site 92 sounded like a unit a friend was in.Yup S/Sgt. Sebastian "Bustle" Stavella BT P is a friend of mine will call him tomorrow.Cool stuff I met Bustie when bowling at Boonton Lanes he used to work the front desk.
