    One more safety tip about mixing wood tools with metal: Don't use the dust collector because the sawdust is extremely flammable and the hot metal chips will ignite the sawdust, turning the dust bin into a bomb. Disconnect the dust collector hose from whatever tool you are using and vaccuum the mess up when you are done.

    agreed! dust collectors are the right combination of high velocity air and fine combustible material... thats why i built my router table with both aluminum and sticks in mind. another concern and reason not to pump aluminum shavings up the DC chute is savin your BAGS! think about it, a typical DC bag filters down to 2.5 microns. . . one small tear from a metal shaving and out comes all your dust that you spent all the time an cash on getting out of the shop
