Unreal!! I'm looking through all those pics in awe! Around here, our junk yards are exactly that..JUNK! MANY of those car's still have the rocker's, quarter's and structure still in tact.. around here your lucky to find the top of a car rust free! Many time's when walking through yards here, you'll see car's that have literally rotted into the ground.. From what i'm seeing, there's a lot of savable car's in there.. Thanks for the pics.. Tony

WOW!!!!!!!!!! To bad some of these yards wouldn't let more of it go for REASONABLE prices to save some of it, instead of just crushing.
Might as well be watching a video of puppies getting euthanized because nobody wanted to adopt them... Seeing that good gl*** and chrome trim being crushed is just horrible. I searched for years for the back window in my '58 Commander H/T... those wagon windows aren't common anymore either.

Tree huggers aren't the problem with the old yards. Non-car folks who inherit them are, they typically haven't the foggiest idea what anything is worth. Rather than deal with "all of the cars rotting away on grandpa's old property" they crush because of the price of s****. This was a huge problem a couple years ago when s**** metal was through the roof, a lot of old yards cashed out bigtime. Now that its lower the crushing has slowed since it isn't nearly as profitable as just selling them, but as the price of s**** rises it will start again. Back on topic, I've been to the Mariposa yard. Its a pretty awesome place to visit, although its probably been almost 15 years since I was there. Picked up a fender and running boards for my '53 Dodge 1/2 ton there for a deal.
Sad news... in 07 you could drag just about anything out of there for under 500 bux just no buyers....
I saw this post and got happy- for a second. Then I saw the date of the orig post. I was up there about a month ago- Many parts I needed were sitting on the top of the to-be-crushed pile. Damn shame the old man died. I could really make you Caddy boys cry if you'd of seen the 50's 2 and 4 doors up there Damn shame... First Romo's in Fresno, now this.

Got some stuff for my Biscayne from that yard about 10 years ago. It was the neatest yard I've ever been to. Told the old man what I needed and he sent me off in the direction I needed to go. Found what I needed, pulled it, paid for it, and then shot the **** with the grumpy old dude for about a half hour. I had heard he was kind of an SOB, but he was pretty damn cool to me. Spent the rest of the afternoon looking around, it really was amazing how much cool stuff he had out there. What a shame, sickening actually.
