What are some widths(drum to drum) of some common rear ends? Im looking at one thats 55" drum to drum, and wonder what width rear ends its symlar to. I just need some comparison. Thanks
I believe mavericks has the narrowist rearends that are atleast readly available, they were about 57 inches if i recall, they were 8inch ring gears.
try a 2wd S-10 axle or early square bodied Bronco, also consider negative offset wheels (i.e. fwd offsets).
I have an 86 chev S10 two wheel drive rearend under my roadster pickup---it is the perfect width for a model A, at 53 5/8" wide, running a standard 7" wide x 15" dia. chev wheel.---Brian
Ford Ranger pick-up rear axles 92 model year and earlier are 57" wide wheel face to wheel face. Most are the Ford 7.5" axle, but 90 to 92 Rangers with 4.0L V6 motors had the Ford 8.8" axle 57" wide. If you need a narrower axle, take the Ranger axle, cut the drivers side of the housing and use two Ranger p***enger side axle shafts and you are down to about 54" wide. Piper106
56" is just right for 33/34's , even 57"-58" if you like the wide old timey look. Maverick 8" are 56".
