Ya, i know... not everyones bag here but here it goes anyways since its the thing i've been working on since december (the flavor and inspiration for it is taken from both the original 70s sports and super sports as well as from Ducati's recent retro replica prototypes): http://pomadepete.com/kustom900sssp.html its almost done, but still needs details and the fairing stays welded up/fairing mounted... i'll post a pic when done. if any of you guys know what a stock '94ss sp looks like, this is a DAY and NIGHT difference (wireing nightmare too!), too much **** to list, but basically got stripped down to the frame/motor. pete
oh shiiiiiiittttt! i luv that bike... it was feautured in cycle world not long ago and i've been watching build progress of this bike for the past two yrs.... i would do a few things different but man, that thing flows so nice.... to me, its a work of art. thanks for the pic post burndup. i'm actually talking with mark hoyer, feauture editor of cycle world magazine about getting my bike in when done. ****, all i can say is that i was hight for two days when he emailed me and if my bike made it into cycle world i would just ****ing die of happiness and a permanent hard on.
Pete your little Duck is the balls! I LOVE it! From the front fender stays, wire laced wheels on back to the dual megs, just awesome. Not to mention that gorgeous aluminum fairing. How were you able to get the laced wheels on it? I'm interested to get a laced hub that will fit my gsxr inverted fork that I'm using on my hd 45" bobber, as noted in another post. Thanks and great job!
YH- I had the hubs custom machined in Spain by a company that was subcontracted through an English place I bought them through, they build the complete wheels. After the fact (ofcourse) I found a local shop that was willing to machine the set of hubs and build the wheels on my choice of rims a little cheaper. So, I'd imagine (and the front hub is easier) that any competant machine shop should be able to make a hub for you. Now, what rim are you planning on using? some sort of skinny huge 19 or 21 HD rim? or a 17teen sport bike rim? If you're planning on using a modern 17 why not look into interchangebility from some of the suzuki cruisers that ran spoke rims? or better yet, dive into the super motard crowd and investigate to see if there are allready hubs out there to fit your application since all the supermotard guys r runnin' 17 spoke fronts (that is if you want to run a 17, even if you dont i think you still could use the hub?). Hope that helps.
Wow, that thing is very retro. I am a bike lover. Unlike some HD guys I don't care if it is foreign I love it - as long as it has two wheels. When I went out to buy my own bike it was a toss up between a Duc ss, a Suzuki GSX, and a Harley. Ultimately I chose the Harley because of the comfort and the heritage - I got all American on my ethics. I have loved Ducs since I was a little guy. The sound they make is as distinct as any Harley. Your bike is choice. I couldn't have imagined that it would look "right" if you would have told me you were going to do a retro bike theme on a newer bike, but I'd have been dead wrong. That's tight, a retro look with modern kick your *** power. Awesome. Good work.
