or what would granpa run on his in '48 when he came home from overseas? got these off egay and was thinkin about mountin them flush on the bottom rail of the bed (see taped up paper) thoughts and/or suggestions on these or on any others?
They are gorgeous, and I personally reckon they will look grteat witht the Tee. ...any more pics of the truck...? Thats one hell of a low roof! Cheers MAIKI
Those are boat lights. I guess they would work. I wonder if you would catch any **** from the DPS? I guess you wouldn't if the red was your tail light, and the white was your back-up light... Here's a thought for you... 1948, the "back up light" was not commonly found on a car. That's later safety stuff.
thanks...its a bucket...tho i saw a pic of one in japan that had a roof that was pretty kill in a krazy way pics of mine from another thread
boat ones...one granpa was a sailor...but you're thinkin they're later than the 40's? backs are ss...front is def old chrome
I'm not saying that those lights are newer than the 40s.. I'm saying that those lights are off of an old boat. I am saying that it would be unlikely for someone to put clear lights on the back of their car in the 40's. Clear lights are back up lights. They did sell add on back up lights in the 40's (single light mounted under one tail light) but I would think a hot rodder would think they were for wusses.
hell yeah!!..that settles it...im cuttin metal and droppin em in and man the cops aint seen a rod like this on these streets since the early 60's...im thinkin they aint gonna say diddly cept ask if they can drive it.. all they do on my old bikes is give me a thumbs up and ask me if i saw occ last nite...which i didnt
ok thanks....exactly why i asked cuz you guys know but they look pretty kill on the photochop..maybe i could tint the bottom or somethin..ill think on it
Just an idea, but why not divide the light into two sides from the inside along the chrome strip that runs through the middle of the lense. Then you could run one bulb in the red lense side for running lamps/brake lights and turn signals, and run the clear side as back-up lights.
