Great car. Great effort that required more time and energy than I will every have. Take pride in what you do and don't expect attaboys. Some of the greatest artists were not recognized during their lifetimes. I'm sure that would be a small consolation.
You've certainly brought back a time from when I first went to the indoor shows in the 60s at the Lansing Civic Center.
Keep your head high and plan the next creation. You've already establish a place in history Dave. How many of us can say that?
    Regards,

As someone who has built one of these bubbletop cars all I have to say is that there is no point at all in driving them, Acrylic bubbletops are not safety gl***, and can you even imagine what one of these cars would look like with windshield wipers, rear view mirrors etc? I dont even think that you could ever get a ***le or plates for one unless you started with a "car" instead of a pile of tubing and plaster. I owned the Futurian for 5 years after I built it and even though it had a fresh drivetrain and everything it needed to operate I never tried to run it. These cars are "show cars" . I think that the people who build them just want to stand in their heros shoes. At least thats the case with me......Hats off to dave, Cool car

I totally get the car. I totally get the reasoning... and I totally appreciate the work that goes into them. They are art. And it's super cool that we have people in the world to build them.

I just don't feel like they should be put on pedestals over functional art.

  4. AAAAAWW-summmmm! Thanx for the shots, Denise!

Having been involved in a small way in the Houston Autorama,I too have seen the ****ty side of the show scene, and the only way to deal with it is to go for the show, not the awards. Hell, before long he'll have more trophies than he can store anyway!

Hope to see you in Austin this spring!!!!!!!!!!!! Lee

Too bad he didnt have the invite and the agreement in writing. Then he could call the ***hole who invited him a lier to his face and feel a lot better about it. I hate people like that and i work with a bunch of em. I understand the rules of the ISCA but if your building a riddler car good for you but I took my 32 to autorama fresh out of the box :D (just thought id throw that in for fun) and they judged it like a ****ing riddler contester:confused: I built it to drive . Things on the judging sheet like not enuff detail on the hidden areas:confused: WTF was he looking up the tail pipes:D Oh ya the wiring wasnt colorful enuff? Screw that I wanted it all black? I won my best award in hastings and it was cool and i dont even get off on awards . I hope he rethinks detroit and says **** em and just goes to let everyone else tell him what a fine job he did on the car.

    Please read my previous post.

Let's face it; indoor car shows aren't for everyone and neither is chocolate cake, and that is fine. Thanks for expressing your opinion and please refrain from calling people liars when you obviously don't have a clue.

The gentleman who invited him works his *** off for the entire year to produce a worthy show. He accomplished his goal and over 200 of the entrants that were there would be happy to tell you all about it.

    Thanks/BA

I don't think I'd call it a benchmark custom. It is neat....but it has odd proportions....looks like a combination of the Outlaw, Little Coffin, and the Mysterion. Doesn't seem incredibly original, but I can really appreciate all the work that went into it.

Still, the ONLY "new" bubbletop car I have been completely amazed with is Moriarity's Futurian. He nailed it while all the rest had missed the mark by just a hair.

Wow! Dave, it's your sister in Gaylord. That is quite the car you did! I hope you end up getting lots of awards somewhere down the line. This one you should keep. If only mom and dad were still here with us to be able to see what you have done. They would be very proud!
Waiting to see your next masterpiece. Something in a hot pink would be nice! Love ya!

    Absolutely cool... ;)

All the *****in' and kablitchin' is kinda sorry... it seems to be what happens whenever something outstanding is created, especially when its from scratch... maybe its 'cause most people just don't get it...

My hat's off to Dave.
