I believe so.... Check your local DMV website, they usually have a prety good "What happens if???" section. Or just go to school...thats what I did
Whether you plead guilty, or are found guilty by the judge, the fact will remain you are guilty. After that point, you can ask the city pros if you could attend a driving school, since you have no prior convictions. You will agree to pay court costs, but attend the driving school in lieu of paying the traffic fine.
if you go to court and fight the ticket, if you lose you pay the fine and it goeson your record. pay the fine go to traffic school nothing on your record. you can take a course online provided that the court allows it.
When you show up to court you check in. and you get a good look at ALL of the cops/CHP (check to see if your cop even showed up, then they will throw it out if he did not). Usually, they will ask, OK, if your here to fight your ticket and have now decided to take traffic school this is your last chance to do so. if your not feeling confident to fight your ticket then say you want traffic school. but if you want to fight your ticket go for it. they will usually then read off a list of names, and then say "You are dismissed, your officer did not show up we will reimburse you your ticket money" if they don't call your name be prepared to fight it, cause that means your cop showed up, Thats when you prove him wrong and make him squirm infront of court. just cause he's a cop does not mean he's always right. its more than possible, also beware, sometimes if a cop cannot show up he/she will send a friend (a fellow officer) to fight it for them. point out to the judge that the officer did not issue the ticket and you are their to fight your accuser not a FILL IN (BINGO you win). cops try to get sneaky sometimes....
