I bought a mack oo a year ago, but it got packed away with everything else. Finally unpacked it and decided to try my hand on my new 52'. Wadda ya think? My line consistancy is ****, but I think the symetry is okay.

Nice! Just work on consistancy and turning corners and you'll do great!

Thanks! I just looked at the pic and the lower lines got really chopped up by the computer---my lines aren't THAT inconsistant! I really can't get the stop/start of a line to stay the same thickness as the rest of the line. Any tips?

  12. Damn - can you say "Natural"? If that's your first attempt, you got a future as a striper. Very nice...

    Now - practice, practice, practice.

You're on your way! Looks like the brush could be a bit more perpendicular with the surface. Pallette more often, but dude, ya gots an eye....

  15. Sheee-it, dude. That's looking damn good.

  16. I've seen better... by guys who've done it twenty years.

But I don't think twenty years' practice would get me there. Period.

    I'm impressed - and a little envious.

Looks damned good from here. Like has been mentioned get the brush up a little and balance on your pinkie (at least thats how I do it). As was also mentioned, Practice practice practice, you'll find a technique that works for you. You have really got an eye for design, nice first attempt for sure.

Geez, thanks guys. I tried pulling the brush up (I was laying it down and more "dragging it before). Here's my second try. Ignore the triangles at the top, I'll fix those later. When it dries I was gonna try some ivory lines over it. I'm having trouble once I have paint on the brush remembering which side is the top, maybe that has something to do with my consistancy. I'm using straight one shot, should I be mixing anything with it? My ba*****t garage only has a space heater, so it's about 50 in there, any tips on cold?

Put a little turps in the paint. It'll flow a bit easier and will keep the shine. Mineral spirits will dull after a while.

You do really good work. You've got a natural eye. Its a gift. Use it well gr***hopper

Thanks, but the car has lots of rust, I mean "patina" and will eventually meet a sander, and the bike is waaay unfinished and I might not even use that tank, so no biggy either way.
Turps-- thanks, I was using the paint straight, didn't even ad mineral spirits. Hope nobody thought the white line was paint, it's just a chalk straight line. I'll post more pics as I find stuff to stripe.

Ok, enough on your own cars. Let me know where to go so you can stripe on my Valiant and Comet.
