I'm a newbie to the forum. Well at least for posting. I've read a bunch of good posts for a while.

I'm posting a pic of a '56 Buick that I'm doing for my wife. She found this nice original rust free '56 Buick Special last June. We have had a bunch of cars and I have had a ton of motorcycles over our 20+ years together. (I still actively race vintage flat trackers.) She wanted something for herself. I didn't have a problem with that at all. Once we got the car home, the deal was she got it the way she wanted it. (I would have had it with a late model TPI, slammed, big meats, etc.) She has always liked the G***er look, so that's how it's going.

It has a 350/350 witha GM 10 bolt rear in it. Basically stock. She wants to use it regularly. All the drive train and suspension is new. I put a painless harness in it and some southern air conditioning is on the way.

We are leaving the origional paint on the car. The final plans are for some distressed lettering on the 1/4's reading "Draggin' Lady", some cl*** winner stickers on the 1/4 gl***, etc.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts were on "My bride's ride"

Had a 56 Special, neat cars, but real heavy for a g***er. Looks good with front up. Like the idea of old paint and lettering.

With all of the stuff that I yanked out of it, It is under 3,000lbs. All of that old nail head, torqueflight and torque tube rear was very heavy. That and the front bumper weighed about 100lbs. Even though it may still be a bit heavy, I think her main goal will be accomplished......No one should be pulling up next to her in another '56 Buick G***er.

    Ride fast, take chances,Don

Looks great! Never thought about turning my '56 into a g***er. I'm going low....WAY low... :D

I'ts up on ramps now. I'm finishing up with the wiring, brakes and radiator. In another week or so It'll be back on the ground. I'll get some better pix of it then. I can't get far enough away to get the side now.

    Thanks,Don

Nice look, Don. I like the g***er on the new R&C. Great look. I remember those cars when I was really little at Norwalk and Milan Dragways. I've got pics of a black '57 Chevy from Bales Trucking in Adrian, MI from 70 or 71 that my dad took when our friends raced a 70 Chevelle. I've got to dig that out. There was a blue Anglia as well.
