  1. My first one... bought in '84 at the age of 14 and built up to look like this by me by the time I was 17.

Latest one... was my inspiration for owning a '55 back in '84... and found it years later...

Here's mine in 1984 when I was a high school punk. After I got a job and started making that fat cash ($3.35/hr. Yehaaaa!!), I built a lumpity ass small block, made my own fenderwell headers, turned the front clip into a tilt off, and swapped the rear out for a 9" with some of the old M/T ET's for grip And I put it on a slight "diet" to shed some unwanted pounds, too.

My favorite shot of the inside when I started tearing it apart a few years ago for a "rebirth"

And this is it right now with the front clip pulled while I do a "minor engine swap" in addition to the rebirth :)

  6. My 55 I sold in 2005. 454, T400, narrowed 9". Ran 11.80 on pump gas.

I've been wanting either a 210 or a Nomad since I was a little kid and I still haven't found the right one that I can afford. Always something stopping me. Almost found one when I bought the '66 Chevelle I had but I couldn't get the guy to come off the 10 grand he wanted for basically a shell with Welds and half an engine.

I wanted a 210 for almost 35 years and finally found one I could afford, but in worse than junk yard shape and it still cost 3500.00. It came with 3 truck loads of parts to rebuild it and took a year of weekends but she's drivin now. I can't post pics cause it's sittin in my garage in 8 degrees and not comin out til spring.

Damn! I guess maybe I should've sold a kidney or something and went for that one when I had the chance. Body was actually in pretty good nick, just didn't have interior, bumpers, or a transmission. I think the engine still needed a few things too, it's been awhile since I saw that one.

My 12 year old :) and the 55 grandpa gave him:rolleyes: , car looks a whole lot better in the photo, needs everything  he thought he could wax it and make it shine;) Personally I think It will cost way more than its worth to make it even just a nice driver It's cost me an arm and a leg just to get it to move under its own power. :( Had the brakes redone the master cylinder loses all the brake fluid, hell if I can figure out where it goes! The rebuilt! rear end I had put under it last summer howls like a banshee:mad:

Dude, his car looks nicer than yours!:)

For real, I think you might be missing the big picture. My dad wasn't around from the time I was 13 to 18 or so, not like he was into cars anyway. I had to learn what little car stuff I learned from a buddies dad. And you have a 12 yr old son and a dad (grandpa) that have interests in the same thing you do. Heck, even not considering the car, it's a chance to bond with the boy and teach him lessons about cars, hard work, goal setting, pride in accomplishment, etc. etc. etc.

Don't take me wrong. I'm NOT trying to paint you out as a bad Dad. I am saying that I think you should reasess the way you look at the two projects. Two projects being the feakin' '55 2 dr. hardtop! and your growing son. Sorry if I've stuck my nose to far, but you did kinda ask.

    Buzzard,

I asked, so you did not stick your nose in to far......I guess I just don't want to mess with something that he really is not into, I was heavy into cars at his age! he really could careless, His sole interest in the car is "when will it look good enough to trade for a JEEP or 5.0 Mustang" Needless to say the title will not be in his name until he is a lot older and appreciates what he has got. I would really like him to be more interested in cars, but I'm not going to push the issue, I really think he expects me to do everything on the 55 and then hand him the keys and title when he turns 16. When I expect him to lend a helping hand and learn something about the car, I think we all appreciate our own cars when we had to do at least some work on them.

Anyway thanks I needed a different point of view........36RRC

If he doesnt appreicate it, you could always do like my dad did......help him buy a $300 Peice of junk Green 76 Ford F100 Pickup at age 14 and let him either figure it out, or ride the bus. Course, I honeslty wasnt ungrateful, nor did I ever let it be even a thought..... I loved my truck form the day I first got it because it was MINE!!! I still miss it.
