I know I know I know. A VW on this site is bad....but hopefully you'll let the "girl into cars thing" override your hate of the non traditional foregin monster known as my bug [IMG]

Right now it is all silver, but due to the semi-****ty paintjob we're going to repaint it here very soon. This is not my bug, but one incredibly similar that Studeboy had photoshopped into a two tone cyber green/offwhite combo. I've always wanted the cyber green, but would love to see alternatives. I mostly want to see Black and silver two tone, with the black covering most of the car.....then some limetime green pin striping on the deck lids or something... Roadstar thinks I should consider two tone following a different line on the car than what is generally seen as in this picture below. If you guys could give me some options I'd really appreciate it [IMG]
We will be putting all the chrome trim back on in the places it belongs....all the way down the body line, etc...so the colors have to coincide well where there will be trim.....

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated [IMG]

    Thanks!
    Kris

    Tell that to Volksrodder.

VWs are cool, not manly cool, but I'd do a chick with a VW. [IMG]

All kidding aside, it's still better than a new car......

  13. Blossom,
Nuthin' it the world wrong with the Bug. I've seen a lot of them customized over the years, everything from the full custom chopped'n'dropped vibe to the lowered can/am look. I've even seen some (streeters) with some pretty repectable performance, and a couple of hemi powered strippers running the 440 yd dash.

I like Uncle's rendition, perhaps I would carry the accent color over the rear fenders, but whatever it is slick. They do look really good with the lid lowered also.

Build with what's at hand and drive what ya build. [IMG]

Thanks porkn******...Although I love the look of the chop top and all, I want it done and driving, and I want it done NOW. My husband has way too much **** on his plate already, so there's no need to even think about customizing the bug. It runs and drives now, just needs paint, and re***embled. [IMG] I will be happy with the outcome, I'm sure. I can't WAIT to drive it all over the place this summer!!!
I'm just debating over black and silver and the green and white more than anything. Hopefully it will go into paint in the next few weeks...so I have to decide fast! So once again, any and all photoshop ideas will be greatly appreciated [IMG]

  15. Aww, they ain't so bad, hell go to Milan on the Bug Out day, and they usually have a couple that turn 9 second quarters... that's pretty trad! My wife want's one too someday, and I always fought it, but after seeing a couple of these renditions, I may relent... [IMG]

The SoCal/ Pierson Bros. bug look in green, I kinda like it.
I'd like it better tho with a 671 and hat sticking thru the hood, zoomies behind the front tire, a full cage, slicks and functional wheelie bars and parachute. But that's just me... [IMG]

Just plain black. I have ALOT of respect for a car that has black paint done to perfection. Also, lots of respect for an owner of a black car that keeps it looking good on a daily basis. It doesn't get any better then a black car with awesome chrome trim.

    Go for it girl! [IMG]

Welllll...the winking got to me.....but I'm not worthy!!!!...Steve Stanford has done the ultimate VW concepts and I saved them in my vault.

I see the car silver with black scallops like Steve's concept. Don't lower the car to the point where it looks like it had a hernia....and PLEASE don't let anyone talk you into chopping the top, unless they have already done one and want to come help. I did one in 1991 that was a "straight down" chop....the toughest job I have ever done.....they look great with the right stance...no chop needed....but if you did chop it...the cal kid look is great.

and the bug I chopped...in progress...I won't post the completed chop...cuz I don't want you to get any inspiration to do that....this chop was what I call "Good day on the ***embly line"...doesn't look chopped unless it's sitting next to a stocker

    Okay, OKAY...no chop! [IMG]

Just a little smoothing over and a simple scallop to break up the Taxi look a bit...

If you ask me it's all about the wheels and tires on a VW. The ones in the rendering - the Halibrand/Porche/kidneybean lookin' ones they are the ticket. Save up your dough and shoot for those rims and a nice rubber rake. It will make a huge difference.

Every time my dad has ever bought a new car he has always went out the next day and got the coolest rims he could get for it. It makes a world if difference. With no other mods he could pull up to another stocker at a light and make the other car look silly...

Hell he even put good rims on a Pinto when it got too expensixe to drive his Roadrunner to work. You may laugh, but it actually looked kinda cool, well for the seventies anyway.

.....and where the hell IS Volksrodder?? I know he's got cool pics of these damn things.

Broman, great point. Wheels and tires can make or break a car, period.

I bought a 47 Chevy convert at the Charlotte GG show many years ago that had the ugliest wheels ever, those "wagon" style ones from the '70/80's. Within half an hour of giving the owner the deposit I had a wheel vendor carring out a couple of my choices right to where "my new" ride was parked so I could take photos from the side of each wheel held in place at the wheel well opening. This was way before I knew of photoshop.

We all have it so "easy" now in comparison in deciding color choice, wheel choice, body mods etc. There should never be another ugly hot rod or kustom built in this world [IMG]

that is my absolute favorite Bug EVER. i have plans to do one quite similar one day but with a twist. i'm not tellin what that is but it will ROCK. first i gotta get the FnA done then my while i'm working on my roadster (the next one in line) i'll start looking for a solid oval window body to cut up. i've allready got the roof off a 61 ragtop car that i'll work into the mix when i chop it.

i dig the SoCal scallop but i'd like to see it go the other way kinda old Corvette style. i absofrigginlutely love the Stanford concepts and the black with silver scallops would RULE!!! lets see what the boss thinks though. the painter said he'll do whatever we want.

the interior is black with white piping and white inserts on the side panels. not the most ideal for any of these paint schemes but it is NEW and will work with whatever we do. the sliding rag top is black also. i just LOVE black with shiny new chrome so you know i'm voting for black and silver, be it scallops or just a two tone.
