O/T A funny thing happened.......

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by adjustablejohnsons, Jan 26, 2007.

  1. Yesterday at an I-59 rest stop, a kinda down-and-out guy needing gas money tried to sell me a DC-AC convertor.

His pitch was that if I had a dead battery, I could plug it into my cigarette lighter and use it to power a battery charger.

I stood there for a few seconds trying to think what to say and decided the best thing to do was slip him five bucks just to get rid of him.

  2. Haha, smart guy...

You'd be surprised at the number of people that would make perfect sense to.

Definitely worrth the risk--if it works as advertised, you're gonna be bigger than Saudi Arabia and Henry Ford put together!
And just think of the thrill of your first FREE TRIP! Plug the thing into your car and charger, and drive wherever you want on the STARTER, free for nothing!

If your ride doesn't have a cigarette lighter just carry a power strip. Plug it into itself and have 4 or 5 more outlets for the battery charger, compressor, whatever...:D

Maybe it's the same guy that used to work in the service department where I work. One day, he told me that he thought air driven lifts were better than electric lifts, because they would always work, even when we had a power outage. I asked him where he thought the compressed air came from, and he just ****ed his head to one side and looked at me the way a dog does when he doesn't know what the hell you're saying to him.

  12. I didn't even get the wonder device. I gave the guy the fiver just to get the hell away. Rationalized it as "a humanitarian act."

first rule when stoping at pickel park(rest area) is don't make eye contact with anybody you didn't ride in there with.that way they won't get the chance to try to or sell you or tell you their sad story!

Kinda along the same lines, one of the ladies I used to work with told me that her aunt used to go out half an hour before she left in the morning when it was cold and turn on her headlights to "warm up" her battery.

kinda reminds me of the time i worked as a service writer at the dealership afew years back.....

some woman brought her car in saying her air conditioning wasnt working,

i made a ticket, pulled it around to a tech and went back upfront,

a few minutes later he pulled back into the service lane, with a real serious look on his face,,he said "i figured out why the air conditioner isnt working"
..."she doesnt HAVE air conditioning!" ,,hahaha

...it was a dodge neon that she has purchased used back in the winter and had ***umed it had air...

I make them work for the cash they are asking for. One of the funniest things is to make them dance for money. I will gladly give a panhandler a couple bucks if he will dance for me. Sometimes they will sing too. It's some of the funniest **** I have ever seen.
My buddy had one try to catch him a pigeon for ten bucks. He said this dude ran around (drunkern' hell) for ever trying to catch one but never did get it. He still paid the guy for the entertainment.

A guy stopped at my neighbor's shop and was discussing the awesome power of the supercharged 3.8L GM engine. He swore up and down that he saw a "souped up" front wheel drive SSEI Bonneville do a wheelstand.

oh yah. My mom, dad, and I were driving to Frog Folies 2 yrs ago. We kept p***ing all these hotels that were on the right side of the interstate on the way there. My mom looks at my dad and I and says " isn't it wierd how towns and citys on the right side of the interstate always do better than the ones on the left?" We had to pull over for fear of ******* myself!!!!

Hey! That might of been one of my brothers in law.... One time we were working on my '40 Chevy p/u and I was removing the front wheel and asked another guy to step on the brake so I could break the lugs loose. Joe mechanic told us to just put on the emergency brake!!! The other guy and I just looked at each other, we thought he was kidding but he wasn't.
It would scare you if I told you what he did for a living!! So I won't!

HAd a woman come to the door selling a cleaning product that would clean up anything, clean the windows, clean the d****s, wash the car with it...
I asked her if it would clean up the Orange catylized Enamel overspray on my driveway from when I painted my MGB-GT and she said "Sure will!" I told her if it will take the paint off the driveway it will take the same paint off my car if I wash it with it so stay away from my property with that stuff.

By the way, If I give you my address, will you send me five dollars too?
