G'day, Howyergoin? Drawing and painting hots & customs is my thing. I've got no garage and no hot rods (my brother has) . I'm from the north- side of the City of Adelaide, South Australia. This is a modern town in the ancient land of Tandanya, Kaurna people. This state (S.A.) is bigger than Texas and was incorporated in the same year as Texas was, as a religious haven and as the first place on earth to give women the vote. Five hours from Adelaide in the central west of the state is the best salt racing surface on earth (ninety miles long, at sea level). Adelaide hosted a street- circuit Formula One Grand Prix Race for a decade ending in the mid '90;s. This is also the manufacturing city of origin for those Gen3 GTO Pontiacs. Fifty years ago the same company here built the cars that the 'EFFIJY' G.M . show car was inspired by. (see 'Collectible Automobile, October 1990). I own one of these cars. Called the Holden it is a light- medium sedan 107" wb 2.2 L OHV inline six, 2300 lb. The most popular car to hop-up in Oz for twenty years, they were raced in all spheres and Barris- like customs were seen all over Australia and New Zealand. My version sits neglected under a cover in the yard, all stock except twin Strombergs, headers, mild cam and double valve springs. Daily driver is a '72 Aussie Fairmont ( fancy Falcon) sedan with a nice +020 302 Cleveland & C4. With a 350 cfm motorcraft it goes OK. These aussie Falcons are the same basic design on which the 'MAD MAX' black coupe was based. Time to go. Thanks for the rant.
I'll have to agree w/ peckerhead, AC/DC does rule. Welcome aboard the HAMB board. One of these days, I will get to Australia. Just can't say exactly, when. Hope you enjoy every thing on the board. BTW, check out the art show.
Welcome to the HAMB Steve. You'll learn a lot here... The first will be not to piss off the Kiwis! Typical Aussies - first you steal Split Enz, then Crowded House and now you claim that Aussie was the first place to give women the vote! Everyone knows it was New Zealand - do a search on Google - "first country to allow women to vote" and see the results... Wot I want to know is, who let the women out of the kitchen in the first place? Noddy P.S You can keep Russell Crowe... we don't want him back!
G'day Peckerhead, Thank you for your welcome here last year- I'm Sorry reply is so late- still a computer dummie tryin' to find my way around. Dig lotsa aussie music- AC/DC is strong and basic like a tough hot rod. Texas kicks **** musically from what i've seen & heard- BIG TIME. I'd dig to make the scene at Antone's. See & dig those that are with us, for life is too short. Dig that U R into customs- What's happenin' w/ the Fleety ?
Thanks 39 lives- Sorry so long to reply. Good to see you doing what you do. The trucks sound like fun. If & when you are down under there's usually something goin' on. Especially Oct- April.
Thanks for the welcome- please excuse the tardiness. The Fairmont is a daily driver sedan- nothing flashy- s'got K- Mart rash & everything. Until I understandhow to post images in these replies I cant post photos of 'Fancy Falcon' or my drawings.
Thank you for the welcome Silhouettes. Have you posted pictures ? If so, Can you tell me how you do it ? I bet you have some good twisty roads in WV. I like the twisty stuff in my Ford despite the column C4 and my own shortcomings. I dont race- we have twisty roads here in the hills and one day a Toyota MR2 went past me like I was'nt moving. Yes it was quick but that car can't look cool or tow a van (trailer) across the country - my Ford can..
