Just for ****s & giggles It should have been a deuce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cooler cars were in both the 75th Anni-Hall as well as the suede palace. I guess that's why I never enter shows=lol! Don't have the $275k to build anything like that nor the desire, In fact I'll add to that last statement. It should be required that the car should have character not be outrageous!!!!=lol!!!!

No kidding. To me it had no presence, it did not stop me in my tracks.

At least it was not the green and purple car.

I was pulling for the copper/orange 32 or the blue 32.

I thought the red 32 had a real chance to win even it if was not my cup of tea.

I really did not like the one that won...it was well built (as were all the cars) but it's another high tech high dollar two tone car to me, no offence ment.

Its a trend follower, not a trend setter. Very similar to last years winner.

  7. Interesting choice for AMBR.....it's a convertible, not a roadster.

  8. at least it wasn't a Marcel car. beautiful but all have the same boring codd/foos look. interesting 35 cabrolet/roadster. AMBR lost it's glory long before it moved to LA. it will never be the Oakland Roadster Show again

It says in that link that Marcel did build the body. Don't blame Marcel. He just builds what the customer wants.

I do have a problem with these one off coach builds competing against actual vintage steel cars. They call this car a '35 Ford but there probably isn't a single piece of '35 Ford in the car. The body is totally hand built. I'm sure it has some aftermarket ch***is. With a SBC for power. If you wanted to be mean you could call it a glorified kit car. I think the AMBR needs to figure out what direction they want to go and figure out what defines a roadster in the context of this compe***on. Otherwise it's going to be real tough for the guy who actually built his '35 Ford from a '35 Ford to ever have a shot at winning again.

The car that 'wins' is just an afterthought, really. These 'awards' are decided on long before the first car rolls through the doors...trust me! It takes a delicate balance of money and politics to 'win' these things...the car is just a token object there to represent the chosen 'winner'.

"Hey, my shop needs the props, guys. Can't draw in the big dollar clients without an AMBR or Riddler trophy to my credit! So-and-so 'won' it LAST year...so who do I make the check out to if I wanna be the Big Dawg THIS time?" :D

Thanks for clarifying this. So, you can actually buy the AMBR trophy. So, a person could go to the Barrett Jackson, buy a roadster, then contact the people at GNRS and actually pay to win the trophy. This seems simple enough, but I just didn't understand it before. How long has this been going on? Did it start with the first GNRS, or has it been a recent thing. I get so confused about how things really work, but then someone explains it to me, and it becomes so clear.

Ha Ha...it's just the way it looks to me, Man! When you can accurately predict who's gonna win everytime...and it sure ain't the best looking car there...then it sorta takes some of the excitement out of it.

Maybe I'm just too jaded, who knows?

Copy a Coast-to-Coast car in metal and Rule The World!! Ha Ha!!!:D

I sometimes wonder if the big dogs would come out and play if there were no trophies. Have car shows just to mirror peoples love of cars. I have always gone to car shows because it was warm and dry and all the cars were there to look at in the wintertime. Indoor shows usually don't make it in warm states. California is a different story and always has been.

Mooneyes Last Year/couple months ago rules. Good People, No thropies, drag racing, and I actually came home from there saying "that was the best damn show ever". This was my first GNRS, probably my last, barn find 32 roadster my ***. If it wasn't for the Suede palace and cars like Cole's in the main showroom there is really no point for me to go.

I'd rather have the half fake Deuce than the all fake '35, poor guy with the Deuce gets raked over the coals, while the all fake '35 wins the big trophy, go figure.

With a full host of ZakSpeed Indy car parts. Almost 500 hp out of a '2.3 Ford'. Pretty amazing car.

the one thing i could not understand with the AMBR car was the screen's on the center of the seat's, if that was for speakers why would it be in the center of the drivers back and p***anger's back... when you looked from the trunk you could look thru the screen and see the dash ! any thoughts guys ?

I was talking to a friend who went to the GNRS for the first time. He's not a hot rod guy at all... he just went cuz some friends talked him into going. He told me that red 55 chevies w/22" on them ar boring. I explained to him that probably 85% of the cars out there **** and **** hard. I go to see that 15% that don't ****. And this year they were mostly in the Suede Palace and the 75/32s Bldg.
