I've been looking at some '50 - '53 Chryslers, Dodges and DeSotos for a project. I was wondering if anyone out there has a project going with any of these cars. I really love the 48 DeSoto coupes. I'm also wondering if parts for these cars are hard to find. Anyone chopped one these?

Any pics, advices, etc., would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks!

My neighbor has a '41 Chrysler limo that's he has been working on for several years. It's painted and drivable now. He used an Aspen front clip and small block Mopar if I remember right. It looks like a bigger 4 door sedan, not any stretched thing. I wish I had some pictures as it looks right and sits right and has lots of room inside.

Here's my dad's '54 project. The og engine has been bored and stroked. Parts are real easy to get around here!

  14. This is our 1947 Desoto Business Coupe. It is pro streeted, and tubbed. Runs an 80's firebird/camaro front clip. Has a four link suspension in the rear. The frame is all built at home, this car is totally home built by my dad. The engine is a 340 dodge, dyers 6-71 supercharger. The colour is a custom mix, with ghost flames.

Hi Gary, here is a pic of my 48 Chrys Coupe, it,s obviously still under construction. It has a Canadian Big Block Flattie 230 under the hood, with a 3psd standard trans and a 4.10 diff. My plan is to put a 3.54 rear end in from a partscar I have and possibly a bigger 6 when this one dies, so far it is a good running engine with good oil pressure and decent compression. Would like to find an OD trans for it. I do own a M6 trans (clunkomatic) and a fluid drive, but don't think I want to change it back to that. Would like to put in a 251 ci flattie someday, with shaved head, ported and dual carbs and exhaust. It would be a bit of a hot rod that way. At the moment I am doing bodywork, will probably epoxy prime the entire car and rive it like that for a while, kind the rat rod look.Old mopars are great....48Chryscoupe[IMG]

Geez, lot's of great cars. Thanks for all of the pics. Shawdow, love the chop on your car. Great lines. And, my Canadian friend, love that maroon coupe. The 46-48 years really grab me. I had a chance on ebay to pick up a very nice (at least in pics) 48 DeSoto coupe. It went for $1,600. It was in California. Kind of a long trek from Maryland so I let it go. Especially love the grill and the way the hood sits on the fenders. Looks like it may be a bitch to work on the motor though.

By the way, just out of curiosity, how hard is it to find an early Hemi? This must be a very stupid question...like impossible I guess. Seems to me these cars are screaming for one.

They aren't that hard to find, but they are costly cause they are super popular
    right now.
