Sights from today's WoW.... HRCC's Backseat Betty makes her debut! More of the HRCC display The boys from HRCC -- Django & HotRodCh***is Deucey goodness Burk heads, Latham blower, 4 side drafts
Senior Zenor, Nice photo effect...Here's a few I took at the show....minus the beer lens?! I'll post a few of the pinstripers art during the Friday Art show...........................
Beer goggles, huh? I was wondering how you got all those pictures in chrome wheel discs without getting your loverly mug in the shot... must be beer goggles then cuz everything looks pretty.
I don't think anyone want's to see that again....or the weight lifting guys with "Musle Car Display" either!?! WHAT we're they thinking...let's see how stupid we can be??? Wait I believe I just answered my own question?
Beer goggles? Nope, that's Human Fly-Vision(TM). Helllppp Meeeeeee! I think Plowboy has a secret cache of that stuff on his hard drive, along with the muscle car body builders.
Kevin (aka HotRodCh***is) and Chad (aka Django) from Hot Rod Ch***is and Cycle in Addison IL. The best show display I've yet seen. Bobby - you gonna be around Feb 22-25? We're going to Deuce Week at the Peterson, maybe see you out there...
Django designed it, and built it with Rocco's (of the Blacktop Barons) dad's help, and Django, my girlfriend and I painted it. Those guys and the rest of the HRCC staff re***embled and decorated it at the show.
Ooops! Didn't know you and Elizabeth were on the project, Joe... incredible job! Yep, I believe Elizabeth works on set and costume design for Chicago theaters
Now there's an interesting thought...Since these guys are Chrome Czar (host club of the Hunnert Pile Up) Maybe the bands could use it as a back drop?!?
HRCC never fails to rule! Great job, guys. And I second that Hunnert backdrop idea. That would be so *****'n.
Thanks, Mike and Bizmon. Elizabeth designs costumes for theater, but Rocco's mom is a set designer and his dad likes building things with wood, so he actually built the structure. It was Django's design/vision. I should let him tell all about it. I'm sure HRCC will be using it for displays for quite awhile... maybe even at the Pileup... I odn't know if it would fit on that stage though!

Hey, thanks everybody! We won the display award. It was definitely a labor of love. I designed the whole mess, including the War Bonds wall and had lots of help to make it a reality. Mr and Mrs Hellfish ( ) did most of the painting on the war bonds wall and got some help from Rocco's mom Deb and myself. I painted both logos with some help from my wife and Rocco. All the guys at the shop helped with the construction here and there, which was spearheaded by Rocco's Dad, Ed. He engineered the structure and was the foreman for it all. It comes apart into neat 4x9' sections that are light and easy to transport. I did all of the post paint weathering. Let me tell you, it is a ***** to sand down and weather something you have been painting for 4 days. The tin came from my grandma's neighbor's barn in Indiana. We just turned it inside out for our purposes. The stuff strewn about came from my house, the shop, and some of the Blacktop Baron's. Lots of people volunteered their time to get it all there and get it all back home. Suprisingly we were not the last ones out of McCormick place! I got home about 3am. It was a ton of work, and without the help and support of alot of friends and family, it simply would not have been possible! So thank you to everyone who had a hand in it!! I'll post some more pics in the morning.
That's cheap and worth the fun factor. That blue roadster got the Hop Up award. I love that car. That would be kinda cool for bands at the Pileup. ALOT of work though on a weekend that is nothing but work!
Wow that is an awesome job, would make any motorhead feel at home. How do you find time to build cars and gig? Warbirds and Hot Rods, they just fit. Always have.
Never a dull moment with 2 jobs, a band and a wife! Here’s a few more pics. The response to the display and to Back Seat Betty was quite overwhelming. I am pleased! MORE PICS HERE You don’t know how many people wanted to buy the V8-60... I painted my grandfather’s name on the ‘36 door. Mom and Dad thought that was pretty cool... Representin’ the HAMB...
Damn. The display looked cool enough from the pics I've seen... but the ones you took 'behind the scenes' wow. Damn you guys went all out for sure. Has to be one of the most complete displays I've seen! Very nice work!
