header flange question

    is 1/4" too thin for header flanges??? or is 3/8 preferred???

    1/4 will work but 3/8 would be better...

  4. I like 3/8" because I like to mill the head mating surface after all the welding is completed. I drill decorative lightening holes to remove some weight and they look cool too. :)

    Also, the thicker flange will distort less from the welding.
