Well it is 60 days till departure till the Roundup. I got lots of parts ordered, a 9 "hung under the 38. I got tons to do in a short time but I need the parts. How are all the other thrashes going and late minute changes everyone is trying to make for the Roundup?
No thrash is like your thrash. But, I'm stressing a bit on mine and dad's ****. I got all the exterior, and interior work on the Riviera done on Saturday. I still need to cut and weld up some holes in the "X" frame reroute the exhaust up so I dont drag it off on Congress. So thats simple enough Then I plan to have my '58 Pickup bagged and draggin' between now and then, fingers crossed.........
Just want to let all the folks headed our way that I have a shop available in Buda (just South of austin) for any last minute repairs/welding/etc. I will post my cell as the time gets closer.
rusty, don't remind me. i am so far behind, the light at the end of the tunnel is just a flicker. -danny
I WOULD have had a rolling ch***is this weekend, but my left front spindle is locked up. I am putting on another axle and juice brakes, but it would have been nice to roll it out of the garage without a floorjack.
Hmmm- well my 350 should be getting here from City Motor Supply in SA today. Dropping the wounded Snow Blind off at Crushproof to do the heart transplant. I also have some buffing/wet sanding to do here and there. Since SB is my daily, I have an added incentive to get finished PDQ-more like 7 days 'til I need to drive to San Marcos! My old 235 is going to my neighbor and he's putting it into an old 50's a-bodied centerdrive dirt tracker that he plans on having ready by Roundup, so I'll probably help with that as well. Late nights, many beers, war stories, bench racing, Black Sabbath and Dixie Witch up loud... sounds like fun!
My "thrashes" compared to some of you guys are really more like mild wiggles, but last year I really was thrashing... and I was two f*ing months late for the RoundUp. Chalk up to over-optimism and inexperience. This year, all I'm doing to my ford before the roundup is: new transmission/converter, cooler, shifter and radiator Haven't got any parts yet.
I'm sure I've going to jinx myself but I started about a week ago hamming on my A project in hopes of getting it just to move on it's on power,as much as I hate to,I'll just trailer it to Austin still need to 1.mount F-100 st.box,st.column,drag link 2.decided to run tie rod in front or behind axle and mount 3.come up with a brake pedal/master cylnder and mount 4.re-do front & rear brakes and run brake lines 5.mount gas tank and run brake lines 6.mount battery and run battery cables 7.mount radiator 8.wire starter 9.build headers 10.convert rearend to open drive 11.driveshaft
Rusty No thrash this year.I have to get the flywheel balanced on the coupe and other than new old hubcaps, the coupe will look the same. Look forward to seeing you all there.
Steve where you going to be picking up a dragonfly this year? That lil fellas last year had the time of his life, he was grinning from ear to ear?
Rusty, my "thrash" goal is 'MOKAN' H.A.M.B. Drags............. You wouldn't have a spare steering column around, would ya?
great....thats 60 days for me to win the UK lottery so i can afford to come over for it........i can dream monkey
60 Days well thats plenty of time but my fear is not enuff paychecks between now and then lol gotta 1 Adjust valve backlash and ****om up top of motor 2 paint and install starter 3 wire starter, get coil and hookup, wire lights, get brakelight switch and install & wire ignition system 4 plumb the brakes 5 fab up fuel tank & plumb the fuel from tank to engine 6 order tail lights, fab taillight bracket & wire 7 run lines for trans cooler 8 order $ 100 worth of front brake line parts & Plumb 9 Gl*** Trans hump and driveshaft tunnel 10 Order gas pedal and fab brackets and carb pull cable 11 install some sort of latches in the doors (easy 5 min job) 12 get license plates 13 cut rear white walls 14 (almost forgot) Get tie rod and drag link made 15 order and install headers oh and im sure theres alot of lil tiny odds and ends im forgetting but im fairly sure the sedan will be at roundup and i promise it will be driven not trailered (unless something happens in route of co****)
this year I,ll be followed by some tree hugging, hemp wearing hippies driving a Volkswagon bus just to make sure that I don,t kill anymore local wildlife!!!
Well "Cynthia" has been a real "*****" !! She took the name change ok and the heart transplant but the clean up on the axle went south and the rear of the frame is crackrd but she is still gonna make it.. Now Roco and Cheaters wheres Rustys motor mounts ????
All the guys here at Crushproof helped me out in getting the new 400 in. New wheels are next. Install my bumpers and I'm done.
Got a part time job just so I could finish stuff on time..get Dynamat, stereo, seatbelts and interior back in the Studebaker, new starter in the Edsel, get the 34 Chevy up here from San Antonio..
I'm crying over here, The Roundup is the best show/event we have going with regards to static displays, beer, music, beer. There ain't gonna be one here, but lots of vintage Padmini Premiers running around. All of those who can go, need to go.
I only have 3 cars to put motors in-not counting the 2 I personally own. 2 paint jobs... a ch***is to re-***emble...I'm sure there's more, but I am too busy to remember. and all the same time, I have to build a paint shop.-in the last 4 months, we have expanded an additional 2000 square feet, hired 3 guys on full time (we're looking for more) and doubled our production schedule. we are growing too fast for me to keep up, it seems. oh well, better to be too busy than not busy enough!
Rusty, My entry fee is sent in, the Flathead 3w is raring to go to the Roundup(for the first time in 3 years, I'm not killing myself getting it ready!!!).....but to make up for it.....my present thrash is on the 5w, getting ready to make the 32 Party on the Left Coast. I guess if it were not for deadlines, nothing would get done in my world !!! Skot

Now i need my motor done ****** done interior done door and trunk gaskets window channeling wiring harness put in wheels re-done buy ww tires paint top of car and most importantly work out the bugs and drive to Austin
