Yeah it's a different flavour for sure...but a well done car speaks for itself. Ugly cars is ugly cars, no matter what make. There are some really well thought out VWs around...

Screw the haters....narrow minded people need not post!!!...some of my favorite cars are foreign...Anglias, Beetles, and even some Volvo "mini mercs"

Some people don't get it and never will...that's their problem. [IMG]

    Ok, I'll jump in....
I am a bug owner, not by choice, but by luck.
last year I was GIVEN a mint condition '73 vert Super Beetle, Karmann edition. It was a gift from a friend. It is about the cleanest Beetle I have ever seen. Aftermarket A/C, CD player, 140W amp, new interior, new engine, new paint, new top... hell, everything is new...
All I have done to it is add some Empi 5 spoke rims and some new tread. (yeah I put 5 spokes on my '73, I had to use wheel adaptors, but I hate the 8 spokes that are avaliable in the late model bolt pattern) and remove the bumpers. The only thing left I have planned to do to it is drop it as low as I can get it...
Here are some pic's of it when it was given to me...

I can't say I would run out and get one or anything but some of that stuff is pretty cool and it don't bother me...anyone remember that bug roadster pick up thing in the DFW area that had the bed art that did not go over real well in Fair Park at Goodguys when that had it there?

I think Beetle bodies look best in stock form, but Karmann Ghias are just gorgeous cars, especially customized.

German or not, cheap, light, and easy to work on is the essence of a hot rod if you ask me

  19. I love beetle & ghias.....These cars were hot rodded & customized from the beginning...

One day, I'll have a dropped 2-tone split window tucking wide whites & chrome steelies...ONE DAY, lol.

  20. Here's a couple more...

Hankcash, do you have any center caps to fit your wheels? If you don't I think I may have a set in the attic that I never used.

Damn! I worked for better than an hour on pictures and a post but none of it showed up. I guess God doesn't like me messin' around with VeeDubs, but I love 'em. They are essential to the fully realzed automotive experience!

I'll try to recreate my VW thread tommorrow -- lots of good stuff.

The two chopped, black sedans with wire wheels knock me out. Although the shape is different, they wear the look of an early Ford hot rod most convincingly.

Love em. The VW scene was feeling a bit stal;e until people started doing these things right.

The black primered ones are just awesome.

Some pretty cool bugs. Just curious, what kind of prices are those 40's style bugs going for
