Well,i'm finally getting around to working on my coupe and before i buy tires i wanted to get opinions from you guys.I have a '36 Ford 5 window and i want to run 6.50-16's in the rear and 5.00/5.25-16's in the front. The 6.50's are 29.26 in. diameter and the 5.00/5.25's are 26.75 in. diameter. I can't afford a dropped axle now,so i was wondering if i go with this tire combination, would adding a 2,3 or 4 in. dropped axle later put it down too far? BTW i'm running stock springs and a stock ch***is. The only modification is a 265 sbc.
I run 700-16 (rear) and 600-16 (front) Firestone Deluxe Champions on my '35 woodie. The 700s are 29" in dia. and the 600s are 27 in" in dia. I installed a Posies spring with reversed eyes on the stock front axle that drops the nose an inch. While not a severe rake, you know the car is not stock.
I will be running '35 Ford wires,so they'll all be 16's,but i never thought about removing leaves. Thanks
clutch, when i first built my 36 i ran 560 x15 s inthe front with a 3 inch drop axle. since then i ve gone to 165 x 15s( i know only sissys run radials!).anyways, my car could really sit a bit lower in the front asthe top of the tire is just about even with the lip of the fender.you just need to be aware of the width of your axle when you remove leaves and use longer shakles as your tires may touich your fenders when you turn. mike
