Wernersville... You have that trifecta of Reading, Philly and Harrisburg going on there. There's got to be someone out that way. I have a really old copy of the Pinhead Fellow pages, lemme see who I can find.

Ok. First off let me apologize for this taking a little longer then I wanted it to. Shipping out twelve boxes to points unknown cost a little more then I thought it would. Below is the list of the victims, I mean HAMBers who asked for the FREE paint and were quick enough to get that request in fast enough in to be one of the first twelve. All but a couple went out today and the remaining boxes will go out tomorrow and those are actually the guys who live closest to me here in Ohio. I sent the furthest ones first to judge the cost.

As for the rest of the HAMB community, if you live near any of these guys, go over and give them some moral support. Better yet, if you live near them and have a car that is real close to being ready to being painted, why not let them practice on your car? Hell it’s gonna get repainted soon anyway, right? There’s nothing like some real-world practice.

As for those that are listed above, as soon as your ‘package’ arrives, open it up, go thru it and let the art flow. But most of all, HAVE FUN!

Keep in mind that Lil John has some cans of paint that he’s gonna send me in a little while to do another giveaway. So for those who missed out, keep an eye open for the next round. I know I said it would be a week, but after seeing the cost of the shipping, I’m gonna make it a month. I have to pay to get it from John’s to me and then from me to the next lucky twelve.

    Thanks for playing along…

Vance, YOU ARE THE MAN!! I had a thought after reading this again, and I'm not sure if this could be done, or even if you are interested, but how about we give these guys who receive your gift a few months to practice then we have them do some striping on something(panel, bottle, old car part, whatever) and then put them up for auction here on the HAMB. Either have the procedes help you out with your shipping costs, or have the procede go wherever you want them to go. I think this would be a great way for the "newbies" to get some exposure and actually inspire them to do thier very best.

What do ya think....could be fun!!!

Heck anybody can stripe right-handed, but it takes real talent be left handed. I wouldn't know personally, but I've heard that somewhere before, lol. Just found this thread nice thing to get someone started.

I think this is a GREAT idea! This would be a huge confidence builder as well as what you said getting some exposure for the new guy. I think if money is gonna be raised for something striped, the money should be split 50/50 between the artist and the HAMB. Let the artist feel that oh-so-good feeling of EARNED money in their pocket and let the HAMB benefit from supporting the whole thing. It's a win-win deal all around. Oh and someone will end up getting some pretty cool art no doubt.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to that conclusion. I'm left handed and I was taught by mostly right handed guys. I found that it was pretty easy as I felt that I was looking in a mirror and was able to mimmick their moves very easily because of that thought process. I actually had problems when I was trying to learn from other lefties and was trying to watch them. When I was sitting across from them I had trouble but if I was sitting next to them I was ok. There was an orientation thing going on that I had to get straight in my head. Once I learned that, I figured out I could learn from anyone if I watched from the right side. Hope that makes sense to you, it does to me.

    Yeah,RIGHT.
If your design is symetrical, why does it make a difference ?
    It doesn't.

The brush will turn both ways, with the right technique,
    and the paint doesn't care.

If you are left handed,do a line on the right side,
then copy the same line on the left side.Repeat as necessary.

If you are right handed,do a line on the left side first,
then copy it on the right side.Repeat.

Vance: what is the name on the labels ?
Consumers Paint Factory,or Courtland Coatings ?
They both owned 1-Shot at one time.
Havn't seen too many with a Grey label.
I bet it's a lot nicer to use than some of the newer stuff.

Ian, the label reads 'C.P.F - A Div. of Courtlaulds Coating Inc. ...'

I picked this up in Louisville, KY back in like '01 or '02. I don't really think there is any noticable difference between these and a regular yellow labeled 1Shot. I know that it looks the same, smells the same and works the same. And no, I haven't tasted it.

I bought a bunch of this stuff as well back then;7 cases as a matter of fact. The first color I tried was the orange and I found it a bit transparent but otherwise fine.I wound up mixing it with the regular lettering enamels and it worked fine.
The place we got it from was a hardware store just over the border in Indiana;actualy not too far from the factory. They were practically giving it away and had about a half aisle of the stuff.

CPF would be Consumer's Paint Factory.

I found some old 1-Shot in a Paint store in Windsor Ont,
cleaned out all the cans that said Courtland Coatings and
    Consumers Paint Factory.

The price started at 50% off,so I was going to get a few cans,
    then they dropped it to $10 a Quart,so I bought "a few" more.:D

  23. Sure, come down to my neck of the woods and "steal" all the good paints. lol

I'm still looking for a good supplier down here.

They still have some quarts left, worth checking out.
    Open late Friday,open Saturday.
1 quart will last me forever,so I didn't get duplicates.
Not a huge selection left, but what do you want for $10 ?

I get empty 8oz cans from Rona, for around $1.25 each,
4 of them will hold a quart.Easier to handle, less waste.
A quickie home made paper funnel makes clean up a breeze.

What a cool deal! I'd love to tale you up on it, but these shaky old hands would never master it.

Nobody else did either, which is why they are not
carrying 1-Shot any longer. Most of the stuff I got
from them is over 10 years old.

If you clean them out,let me know,so I don't bother going back.
