I have spent ages upon ages looking for a decent flathead, and then I had a total epiphany and realized, let me do something that isn't done very often, and build up a six. Does anyone know of a good website, or a catalogue source to get some good parts? Thanks. -Rick
I have a built up Ford flathead six in a '51 2 door. There is nobody selling modern day speed parts for this engine. I picked up a 2 x 1 Nicson intake at the Pate swap meet about 15 years ago. I scored a Knudsen head at the KKOA show in Denison TX a couple years back. Built my own split manifold. I had my stock cam reground to 3/4 at Nielsen cams somewhere in Utah. The Pit Stop in Gary, Texas modified my distributor to use a Crane 6v positive ground electronic ignition (modified a V8 kit). I have seen a couple of manifolds at swap meets, one was on ebay about six months ago. I have never seen another head for one. You just hafta scrounge and improvise. Now the good side....it is a sweet running combo and you are not going to see another one like it at a show or cruise. It gets a lot of attention.
Ford 6, sorry I didn't specify. It stinks they aren't really making parts for it, I can just hope and pray that I find some great parts for it, and keep it going. Flathead is too expensive/become rare, and it is all you see at car shows. The six will be totally sweet, and I'm ready to kick up some money for it. Thanks amodel25.
last weekend in turlock some guy had a knudsen racing head, knudsen 3x1 intake & a old edmunds custom 2x1 intake with 5 carbs for $2000
i would love to have that head!!!!!!!! i have the same edmunds 2x1 intake. i would go some good $$$ on that head!
Delta Cams in Tacoma,WA. re-ground my cam and re-faced my lifters for about $100 a couple of years ago. 254 and 226 speed equip. is hard to find and pricey as hell.
