SEABEE ANWSER UP.How many bee's on H.A.M.B. past or present stand and be accounted for,,CM MCB 58 66-69
What if you were an AT2 and tried to transfer rates foer 6 years (to SW seabee) But the creole group rating wouldn't allow it.? hahaha
My Grandad was a seabee in WWII, served in Panama. He's still kickin. His cousin, my "Uncle Squeak" served in Pacific theater, was a 'dozer operator. He was one of the guys they would drop off on the islands to clear airstrips, he said all they had for protection was a carbide rifle. But I guess the dozer was pretty effective against the jap snipers....they would hear a ricochet, scope out what palm tree the sniper was in, turn and raise the dozer blade- and head right for 'em....
Zumo, PM me. Builder Chief - NMCB 22 88-2001, 9NCR - 01 -05, NMCB 22 (deployed to Iraq) July 05 - March 06, now with First Naval Construction Division.
I'm not a Bee....but I work for NAVFAC, NDW, at PWD Annapolis (25 years). Kinda like sleeping at a Holiday Inn Express.
I'm not, but my cousin is. Two years of construction training, then he was supposed to go to Iraq and help them rebuild. When he got there, he ended up spending the entire tour in a Humvee turret guarding convoys. So much for all that construction training...
nmcb12...cm1...1993-1996 army engineer, staff sgt..1980-1989..love this contry and would fight for it agian...rooster
I'll chime in for my departed grandfather. He was in for a spell during WW II before he got injured and went to the merchant marines.
I woulda been from 1986 to at least 1990...but my recruiter wouldn't guarantee my placement. I told him what I wanted, but he was evasive and fed me some line about scoring too high on my ASVAB exam! I finally got pissed and stormed out. A friend's dad retired from the Bees and spoke highly of it. My buddy (his son) wasn't interested in the least, but I went down to enlist when I was 18 and it just kinda went south. It's one of many regrets, I suppose!
My grandfather was a Seabee in the south pacific during the second World War. He was a Chief Petty Officer, and a great man. I miss him..
I'm a civilian. I totally appreciate every minute you and every other american serviceman has ever spent serving for this great country. Thank you.
Do I qualify for honorary membership? I grew up in Port Hueneme (1960-1968) and played youth baseball on the Seabee base. My coach for our team (the Red Sox) was Lt.Cdr. Bill Cole and we were sponsored by the CPO Club. I also played for the Orioles. Lots of my teammates were squid kids. Great memories!
Not a SeaBee but I worked for many years with the Naval Civil Engineering lab. Did a lot of corrosion work on the base. Lots of great people that I miss. The old lab where the lighthouse used to be is now a parking lot. My lab used to look out over the beach, what more could you want. Went to a lot of Navy surplus sales there when I was a kid. Grew up in Oxnard. There used to be SO much WWII stuff for sale all the time. They even sold old rations from the war. BR
I was there in 1968 (Camp Kinser) we were evacuated when the EO dug up old WWII munitions while digging footings. It wsn't live but they were still digging up live rounds 25 years after they were shot.
Jack, proudly standing up for the count. Enlisted in '64 retired in 2000 with a combined active and reserve 28 years. Two Viet Nam tours with you, remember? Regards, Ron CMC USNR (RET)
Also not a Seabee but had been stationed at CBC Gulfport when I retired (attached to NAVOCEANO). Wife still works in the Navy Exchange there as the HR/Admin.
