    Hello Fellas!

Does anybody have any history on the Yeakel Bros?

Found a lisence frame in my friends garage.

I am a big fan of Lynn Yeakels 32 5 window.

  6. The Lynn Yakel '32 5W is not an AA/FD, and that's what the poster was talking about...

FBB-- I was just getting ready to make a post asking what color Mr. Yakel's car was. That's the first color photo I've seen of it, and all the text I have saved on it says nothing about the color. Thanks for sharing!

The men in the family did not last long. Dieing before 1966.One crashed my friend's 409 into a Corvair just north of El Segundo Calif. incinerating them both.

  9. Cool, Slide...there's been a lot of talk about that car recently, everyone was hoping to find it for the 75 exhibit at the GNRS, but no luck. Check out the next TRJ, there's a colorized two-page photo of it on pages 96-97...

Yeakel had a Chrysler Plymouth dealership located in Downey CA in the 50's and 60's. They ran a Top Fueler driven by Tom McEwen.

There was a Yeakel Bros Cadillac agency in the SFValley -- I think on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City or thereabouts. In the early '50s they sponsored a light blue fenderless '29 drag roadster with Von Dutch striping -- it's the one with the famous upside-down painting on the grille insert, I believe. Pretty sure it was Cadillac powered.

  14. I know they had caddilac, and in '59 they brought in the NSU Prinz and advertized like crazy. I bought one for $1395. fun little car and got better gas mileage than my 59 triumph bonneville

They also ran Super Stocks, I remember a Hemi Belvedere and they had a friendly rivalry with another dealer in the area, Sachs and Son's Lincoln Mercury who ran a Comet with a 427 and later a cammer. The Comet was driven by some young guy who was none other than Don Nicholson. Man, those cars were the best to watch.Great memories

That's the one. I saw it at Colton in 1954; I'm surprised it looked the same for such a long time.

:) OK I just found this site today. May I introduce myself. I am Fred Yeakel and yes I do own the Bill Thomas Cheetah that was raced out of Allen Green Chevrolet in Burien(Seattle) Washington. We will be at the Monterey Historics Aug 71-19 if anyone is interested. When I was 14 I started working at my uncle Bob's car lot - Yeakel Brothers Cadillacs, 4610 Crenshaw Blvd, LA. Lou Baney and bunch would let me polish on the iris blue highboy roadster that they ran at the lakes and drags. They had a floor dyno in the shop, quite something for 1955. We were right around the corner from Joe Hunt magnetos. My love was sports car racing and I started with a 59 Corvette in 1963. Unfortunately I was not the side of the family with money so I made due on my $400/month paycheck and help from guys in the Corvette club. Lou Baney moved to Yeakel Plymouth Center in Downey and they raced 426 SS and then the dragster. If anyone has any of the Yeakel or Yeakel Bros. license plate frames I would sure like to buy one or two. Our web site is www.cheetahcars.com

Hayden Proffitt drove a Yeakel Plymouth Center - sponsored Super Stocker in 1963 and 1964. Two of my all-time favorite cars.

I guess that stuff about "degrees of separation" really is true, huh? Nice thread. Jack Luther.
