    Hello y'all,
I want to convert my '65 Galaxie from a floorshift automatic car to a 4-speed car. Has anyone dorne this type of conversion before? I hoped to just get all the stock parts and a tranny and get it done but it seems very few Gals came with a manual trans and the parts are scarce and expensive. I have located a set of pedals out of a 3-speed/289 car. Mine has a 390 it it.

Would a hydraulic clutch setup be a better/cheaper/easier way to go?
Are there websites with hydraulic clutch/slave cylinder/hydraulic throwout bearing installation instructions?
I guess I need a bigblock Toploader trans.?

I have a T-10 out of some Ford car from the 60's (supposedly) but I don't know how to tell.
    Thanks for the help,
    SB

Nothing even remotely close to stock is recquired for this car.

  2. I did it in a 62 Galaxie with a 390. A lot of work and time and I didn't get tremendous satisfaction at the end. I was too dumb at the time to know any better. I used a 406 flywheel and bell. There are Ford freaks who can help you with this.
I was frustrated by the parts catalogue revisions that occured over the years. Double check your part numbers to avoid wasted time.

Sorry I can't offer more help. I got rid of all my Ford stuff long ago including the parts books.

Have you considered looking for a car that came with a manual trans from new. Ford built a fair number of the big cars with 4 speeds in those days. Many sold in the South East.

You have a circle track inspired car (bitchen). Go to the circle track parts suppliers. They all have everything you need off the shelf. Buy a Circle Track Magazine and look through the adds. You need Willwood pedals and a Howe throwout bearing for that car, not stock stuff.

Ive got a T-10 in my ford that came out of a Galaxie with a 390 a 62 to be exact. Ive got it behind a 351 with an adapter. but it was the strangest thing when i got it It has a 23 fine spline input. ended up using a mopar clutch to make it work but mines all mechanical linkage and neve had a problem putting my foot down. If you can get your hands on a toploader GET IT its a much better tranny than the T-10 in my opinion
