http://www.planesoffame.org/airshows.php There have been 2 warbird threads today, I went to the chino airshow last year and it was absolutely awesome. Lets do a role call of who thinks they will be going ( i know its still early). I wonder if we could talk to them at the "planes of fame museum" about doing some kind of H.A.M.B. display with traditional rods so we could park our cars inside.
I'm going to try and go. I'd love to bring my daughter..........I think she would really get a kick out of it.
I'd love to be in on this! I'm due for a trip out to the museum and I've never been there for the air show.
painterman said he used to work there, I in the other thread. wonder if he would still know anyone. Lets seriously talk to them about parking inside! Anyone else know who we could talk to?
I remember they had a P-38 at chino. It was cool to see it flying, they also had a zero (i think the only one still flying) p-51's, P-40's, a B-17 and a B-25. I called and talked to the VP/General Manager of the museum this morning, Mark Foster. He said that they work with several antique auto groups so there would be limited space if we were to have some sort of display, but I didn't see any vintage post war hotrods last year! He said he will try to call me back in 3-4 weeks. So lets try to see who would be interested in taking their cars, so we can give them an idea of how many guys would be coming.
There are no flying F/P-82s currently. The CAF (I still call it CONFEDERATE Air Force, dammit) is working to restore this one back to flying status. Although there is a dicey situation over the current owner, as it seems the USAF is an indian giver. Apologies to all our native American friends. http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10849 ------------- As for Chino, I would like to attend again this year but I have a lot going on with Roundup and Tulsa beforehand and may not be able to do it. I love that show, and it gets better every year.
I really don't know that the Twin Mustang will ever fly again, but hey, look what the guys with the P-61 have done. The '82 should be a cakewalk, provided they get rid of all the stupid red tape as of late.
The WAGON is in Tulsa, that's what's in Tulsa. The "unveiling" of the buried '57 Plymouth, only seems right to drive a '57 Plymouth there. What's with the screen name you old fart?
Been a private pilot since '85, got our aircraft in '86. It's a '46 Aeronca Champ in the military L-16B configuration. Slower than the car, but bundles of fun on a budget. Non-electric, hand prop to start, cruises at 85 mph and burns 5.5 gallons an hour with the 90 hp Continental.
