Hey everybody! My husband is always on this HAMB site. So I thought I might as well join in the fun. I love old cars and I have a 1962 Chevy Belair Grocery Getter/Surf Wagon. The picture I posted is one that I took of my wagon when I first got it. It's now in Black Primer, with the hopes of one day soon getting it painted. I'm thinking about maybe going with Pearl White? What do you think? In 2005 I found out I had breast cancer. I'm active with the Relay for life. If you know someone battling breast cancer I will be happy to talk to them. My at***ude is very upbeat and positive. Remember mamograms save lives! I was trying to come up with a user name and saw a CD on the shelf ***led Flat as a Pancake, by the group Head East, and thought that's a good name. Thanks
Welcome. Glad to hear of a survivor. Lost my Dad to cancer in 95. So when somebody whips it. Great! Enjoy VonDad
Welcome to the HAMB. I'm also a cancer survivor. Diagnosd with colon cancer in 94, told that I wouldn't see January 95. 5 1/2 years of chemo and I'm still here. At***ude is everything keep up the fight and "Welcome and Good Luck" I think pearl white would be a good choice.
That's awesome. Just a few hours ago I was the new girl. Very cool wagon, and very inspirational story. My family has been riddled with breast cancer and it's made me very aware of my own responsibilites. I preach about getting mamograms to all of my friends and coworkers.
Welcome from an old broad, "Flat"... Though I've been lucky enough not to contract breast cancer in 56 years, I support the Relay for Life yearly I really like that Chevy Longroof of yours. Any plans for some mods? Hi Roadmistress. That's a sweet '54 Buick you own. I remember seeing a few of those '50s Bufords customized in the car rags when I was a kid and loved them! Jan...the junkyard chick
Thanks Jan! It's such a love story, the Buick and me. I lost her for a long time (long story) and spent a year tracking her down and convincing the new owner to sell her back, and then I shipped her to LA from Florida. Can't wait to get it on the road!
If that wagoon was mine and I had breast cancer, I'd do it in white pearl and pink flake. Then I'd have some sort of pink ribbon homage done on it to show my support for others with breast cancer. I don't think ANYONE would ever say a negative word about a car that carries such a WONDERFUL meaning. Do it do it do it do it do it.
Welcome Flat, We need more female voices in here. It helps to keep us pot bellied, beer guzzling, hairy backed, **** scratching, gas p***ing guys in line. There are many of us men here that support you. Yes, I am a man that has a pink ribbon on his ride.
Welcome fellow newbie. Keep on fightin' You'll win . Love the pics. of the wagon. I have a few friends with those. rare and fun. Hope to hear from you and the rest. Dillo'
Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and for making me feel so Welcomed! It is kinda nice to feel like you are part of one BIG Family! Thanks again!
Welcome to the HAMB. I also am active with the Relay for Life program and will be walking on Sunday June 3rd. I will be walking in memory of a great HAMB member, Old Fords&OldFarts, OFOF, who just past away last month from Cancer. I will have a link to a site soon where my rodding brothers and sisters can support this great cause. Again, welcome to the HAMB, we're so glad your here!
Welcome!! I have a very close friend and she's a year and a half into her battle with breast cancer. At this point things look pretty good for her. You keep up the good fight and glad to have you here. BTW, I dig the pink flake color scheme Brandy mentioned.
welcome to the HAMB. Mama Fiddy (Mrs. Fiddy here on the board) is also a cancer survivor. hers was uterin, and after chemo and many D&C's she finally let go of our dream of being biological parents and had the hysterectomy done to be rid of the cancer that would have eaten her up. Denise. . . read my above statement, and PM me ASAP. i got a few ideas for raising funds that same weekend when I an the Vagabonds are going to be at the Rust Revival in MO. hell with it, i'm gonna PM you... meet me in the middle LOL
You buy the materials, and myself and Team Crushproof will shoot it for ya- all nice an low-low style. FREE OF CHARGE.
Welcome to the board. Beautiful wagon...add me to the list for pink flake. I was going to do a pink flake myself..I've got the perfect color in mind for ya...one of the HAMBrs here sells it. If there's a fundraiser going around, someone let me know. I've got the perfect tiger-lilies and orchids for hair clips, and a few shades of pink I can dye them. A pink ribbon can be added easily. I'd be happy to donate some. Cancer, in any shape or form, is a scary thing. My most memorable patients were cancer patients and survivors. One of them my own grandmother. My kudos to you for your strength, and positive spirits! Welcome.
Welcome to the Hamb. Breast cancer has been a disease that I've often had to see loved ones battle in my life. One of my grandmas died of breast cancer before I was born. I lost two aunts to the disease, one was a really cool aunt who babysat me when I was a kid, and was only 40 when she died. One birthday, I remember going to my mail box one birthday and she had sent me four Milwaukee brewers tickets. It was a nice surprise after not being wished happy birthday or presents from anybody so far that day. My mom got breast cancer when I was a teenager and remember going to madison to visit her in the hospital. She had to get implants, and I remember a card her neighbor friend gave her. About them lying on the beach and the difference between the implants and natural, lol. She beat breast cancer as well as a couple other of my aunts. My mom and her family participate in the breast cancer walk every year, and they were in the paper once in a story about it. Best of luck to you, and good to see you here.
Good to have ya aboard! My ma had breast cancer a few years back and had to have masectomy (sp?) and reconstructive surgury. It was ******** stuff, but she's came through it better than ever. We do the relay for life every year here in our small town, seems like everyone in town shows up too!
welcome to the hamb. and.... i really think a suede pearl white w/ a pink flaked top would look good on that wagon. really. -scott noteboom
Not a SUEDE, especially not in a white. I'd vote for a Satin White, that way she doesn't beat her head against it trying to keep it clean. Remember it's like painting your bathroom walls and having little kids, you want the paint that will clean the easiest with least damage to itself.
I appreciate all the GREAT comments! The suggestions on paint colors are being talked about now between myself and my Husband (Of course, I will have the final say in this matter) HA! I am sorry I have not posted my Thanks to all of you before now. I am taking night cl***es at College. With the cl***es I am taking, it requires alot of Homework and with the everyday life chores, it is hard to keep up at times. I sure feel like I have made ALOT of NEW FRIENDS here! Thank You all very much! I had never really considered all my options on Paint Colors for my wagon up until now. However, since having Breast Cancer, PINK is my favorite color. It does make alot of sense to use it on my wagon and would be great to let others be aware of how important it is to be checked for Breast Cancer and all other Cancers as well. Email me anytime and I will be very happy to call anyone who might be going through Breast Cancer and Breast Reconstruction. Maybe I can be of help or at least let you know that you are not alone with this fight! Thanks!
