  2. if it's made of stamped sheetmetal , you should be able to get it straight with assorted hand tools , a small mig welder and lot's of time. if it's pot metal...i think you are out of luck

if its a stock 36 ply grill it should have stainless over steel rod..

if its an aftermarket (which I understand were built in the 50's 60's?) then it could be anything..

IT shouldnt be potmetal at all.. given that the bars are soo thin..

good luck, a buddy of mine has been looking for one for quite some time. every one he finds is pretty bad..

Looks a lot like the 35 Chevy grille, just plain ol stamped thin sheetmetal. Rather than straightening it why don't you get some aluminum or stainless bar stock the same dimension as the ribs in that grille and then build a new one. It will look a lot better and last a lot longer...

I may do that. I didn't have anything in the shell I have, so it will be worth the $ just for a pattern. The only aftermarket I found was $380.

I have been trying to work the grill on my 36 it is pretty warped and out of shape mostly on the passenger side. I have been slowly heating it and pulling it into shape by C-clamping the driver side upside down to my work bench and then heating the passenger side and using a couple other C-clamps and a piece of wood. I heat the grill and then tighten the clams a little and then repeat the proccess. A couple of turns at a time. I have been reluctant to heat it to much at a time so it has been slow going I figure that the pass side was about 3 inches lower than the drivers I have moved the pass side about an inch or a little more so far . after I get the side where I want it I'm going to start with the center grill bar and work my way out.

When you don't have anything, something is better than nothing! I had a little extra $ and it hurts my right ass cheek when the wallet gets a little to thick.
