Well I finally found an exhaust setup I like the looks of under my car and doesn't have bad interior resonance or drone, 9" flare tips like scavenger pipes and cherry bombs the shortest I had on hand so heres some pics of mock up this thing is loud behind the car but not in it just the way I like em.I will get some more finished pics tommorrow in the light.
You said its just mocked up right now? Its not too late to change it... you asked for an opinion, I think that the tips need to be alot closer to the bottom of the body. Maybe 2-3 finger thicknesses? To me they just look a little out of place way down there. I do like the tips though, they're different.
Yeah i thought the same so I did bring them up when I welded them it looks alot better and probably won't ever drag now, I had a little worry. Its running a built 355 with a .488 lift 292 duration cam and 2 600 edelbrocks it sounds wicked when it loads up.I gotta down jet the carbs as it is pig rich right now just waiting on some metering rods to get here the wideband 02 sensor is already hooked up.No sound clips yet maybe tommorrow I will record some
Here we go some finished pics it sounds alot better and looks good too. Hung under the axle like they are supposed to be.Rejetted the carbs and got rid of the stumble this thing is getting quick I really need to do the gears now.Sorry you can't really see the exhaust in the second pic it was supposed to show it but doesn't.
Looks good to me. Fuuny thing about this style exhaust in a roadster, it's noisy outside and pretty quiet inside with the top on/up. Remove the top and it gets even quieter inside. Not due to a change in wind noise, but it is noticeably quieter. I may do the same to the next project - 31 on32 rails roadster. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vis a vis your running rich . . . have you tried a set of lighter weight metering rod springs? Most times that cures an overly rich condition at idle and low speeds. If you do some swapping of metering rod springs, keep track of the ones you remove, the paint washes off them fairly quick and they're hard to ID. A small pill bottle works well to hold each color. Metering rod springs give you the most bang for your buck imo....
I think you need to run them over the top of the rearend and have them closer to the body. just my opinion
Ya stick all that **** over the rearend and make everything work without hitting Easier said than done.. ive been there tried that.. Dave
