This **** has gone down hill. I recently bough a new spray gun on there, Sata 3000 RP. The guy has listed flat rate shipping $20. He's in Ohio I'm in Jersey. No way, not for a 2 lb box. It's not about the money though, I ask him to get a shipping quote, very nicely, not cuz I'm cheap I just spent $400 on a spray gun, cuz I want the right price for him and for me. He responds with this:

"the moment i read your ****in ****ty feedback i knew i would have to deal with an extra large flaming ***hole.who the **** do you think you are. you knew what the shipping cost was but you still bid on the item. what an ***hole.eat **** and die. and be prepared to see more negative feedback. just what you deserve.****heads like you need to stay off e bay. you need to double up on your medication. and instead of sticking one finger up your *** use a couple."

So I respoded like an adult, and told him if $20 was the cost then thats would I would pay. Done deal, so I thought.

Today I get the gun in the mail. "Wow that shipping was quick, $20 well worth it," I thought. I tear open the w****** that the original box was in, still sealed. There it read, Sata Jet 3000 HVLP. Not the RP that I won.

So I figure this guy tried to screw me on purpose, he's a power seller and can't be that dumb. But oh ya, he is claims he grabbed the wrong gun off the shelf and apoligizes. ******** in my opinion. Now I have to send this one back wait for the new one and wait to get reimburssed for my troubles. This whole deal will end up costing $20 to ship, probably a hell of a lot more.

Your ****ed! I see more and more inflated shipping prices cause they make more money that way. BUT if it came ups them ****ers are getting way out of line. I had a guy on the board here that needed a heim 3/4 variety to use as a steering support. UPS wanted over 8 bucks to send it to him so i went with the post office... Ita all a ****ing money deal anymore.........If it wasnt for the ****ing money id be retired. Money money money money.

Sounds like you"re dealing with a jerk.

Having said that, I always check the shipping costs, take them at face value, and factor that into my bid.

I would never try to negotiate the shipping after the auction. All negotiations should take place before the auction ends.

His reaction was over the top, but by bidding on the item, you accepted his conditions, and shouldn't have tried to change them after the fact.

I hope you get the right gun this time.

UPS is getting ridiculous on their shipping prices. It may have cost $20.00 from those *******s.

The screw up however, is not your fault. He should issue a call tag thru UPS, they will come pick it up and you don't have to pay anything. I'd ask him about that especially since he was such a **** to begin with.

I just bought 24 sets of 6 light bulbs (already got a customer lined up ;) ) but the folks I bought them from just multiplied the shipping cost for one set times 24 and tried to get me to pay $180 for shipping. (They round up the weight and add a pound for "packaging" so for light item it gets stupid quickly!)

Got a guy on another board to pick them up and ship them to me -- shipping cost all of $14.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I had paid the $180 who would have made the extra money?

That'd be the day I let anyone, ANYONE respond to me that way when I'm spending money with them. It would be worth a drive to Jersey just to shove his finger up his own *** in person.

I agree with you!! Our post office is on the town square, there is never any parking. After you finally get parked and inside the building there is usually a long line. One person working two or three trying to look like they are working. It's rare to go to the post office and get the hell out of there in any kind of reasonable amount of time. I make sure I'm not in a hurry when go, cause I know I'm gonna be there a while.

    AGREE 100%
I sold some items on there before, added a few extra bucks to shipping for incedentals people sometimes complained. If you dont care for shipping contact me before and we will talk. Sounds like your seller needs to take some time off! Better luck next time, it makes it hard to enjoy using E-Bay when problems like this happen.

Man, I'm angry just reading your message.

That guy's response was way out of line.

If I got that response, I would not have paid for the auction and would have reported him to eBay. The worst that happens is that you get a -1 to your rating. Not a big deal.

Good luck getting it resolved. I used to do a lot on eBay, but the jerks took all the fun out of it.

Granted, his response is childish and uncalled for, but

He clearly stated that his shipping was a flat rate of $20. You knew that before you bid on the item. So if you weren't willing to pay the $20 for shipping, then you shouldn't have bid. And, judging by his response, you already have some negative feebacks.

Honestly, he should have handled that more maturely, but you shouldn't be trying to re-negotiate the shipping after you bought the item. Bidding on an item through eBay is a legally binding contract, so if you get the winning bid, you're legally bound to pay what you bid plus whatever his stated shipping cost is.

I don't purposely overcharge shipping on eBay, and I do agree that doing so is ********. But it's not against the rules, and you knew UP FRONT what the shipping was going to cost.

I would have just paid the $20... it's a touchy subject for some of them ebay flakes!

I usually figure a couple bucks more than what it would be that way I can add a tracking number and maybe make a $1 for gas. Some of them crack heads try to make an extra $20 just cause!!

    so reading into this...

you left him negative feedback AFTER you bid on the item, won the auction and then asked about the shipping cost? *shakes head*

your bid on the auction which means you agree to the terms on the page. No one to blame but yourself. Read carefully, factor into your bid the shipping cost.

I don't begrudge someone making a few bucks on shipping to cover the h***le of going to the post office/UPS shipping station. Any time I've been interested in an item that I thought the quoted shipping amount was out of line on, I emailed the seller BEFORE BIDDING and asked if he'd mind if I printed up a UPS label and sent it along with my payment. As of yet, no one has objected to it.

Well to clear up, I did pay the 20 bucks as he ***ured me thats what it would cost to ship the item. He sent it Priority Mail no frills. Well I just left the post office after shipping it back to him same deal, Priority Mail. Guess What it cost me...... $8.60 Proving my point. I'm not upset about paying an extra $11.40, I still got the gun at a hell of a deal even if I tack that on to my bid. Its just hard for me to pay for somehting that I know I'm getting screwed on.

Know what I did to get around it - got a DHL account. I just tell them to let me know a goodtime to send the DHL guy to pick up, and they don't have to worry about shipping. I haven't had any troubles yet. Plus if you sell a good bit, which I tend to every so often it helps out there too, as they will pick up easily anytime you want. Just a thought, and it doesn't cost anything to have an account.

Most Power sellers have a complex because they think their SH*T don't stink! They think they are better than everyone else because they are Power Sellers.

If I don't like the total price for the item, with shipping, I don't buy it. I also stay away from people who obviously have inflated shipping costs.
I try do whatever I can to save buyers money when I sell on Ebay and I still have a hard time selling stuff. Then you get these power sellers who out and out rip people off on shipping and they sell stuff left and right.

That seller over-reacted and should really take a break before someone does take a road trip and visit him!

The seller sent you an email was showing his ***, no doubt about it. But for those who don't actively sell much on eBay, shipping is a *****. Since I won't use UPS....have a pair of headers floating somewhere I'll have to eventually reimburse a friend for, I venture a fair guess on shipping costs. The correct size boxes, if you don't have one, cost money, packaging material ain't free...I use grocery store plastic bags if I have enough, nor are trips to the post office. If the item is within reason weightwise, I ship Priority even though I don't mention it in the ad. Sometimes I make an extra 3 or 4 bucks and sometimes I lose money. I just just signed up for a DHL account and we'll see how they do.

    Jan..tryin' my best

I only had a problem with one Seller, a guy from Staten Island, NY, on Ebay in over 500 transactions, but that one was a beauty. He only had a few 'neutral' feed backs out of a couple thousand, so I figured he must be OK.

I received the item in question and was pretty disappointed with it. A couple of email exchanges did nothing, so I left a 'neutral' feedback on Ebay - not even a "negative'! The guy went freakin' bananas, got my home phone number and started calling in the middle of the night, on weekends, you name it. He'd use pay phones, cell phones, etc, so as not to leave a pattern. Phone company & police wouldn't do a thing, so I got a answering machine that would pick up the call immediately, before the phone at my house would ring. Left it that way overnight, for 6-months or so and just left my cell on in case of incomming emergency calls.

Just 'cause I knew he was a wack job, I made sure to carry my 357 for a while after, just in case. Oh, yeah, I also had my wife start the car up in the morning......:D

here is one of the worst- has NO clue what he is selling ,what or if it fits and over charges shipping on every item -
    http://stores.ebay.com/KG-SALES-NEW-NON-NOS-PARTS
and He will fire you up if you complain
I bought 2 items for my rod , neither fit as described or looked like the pic he had posted, one was 2 lefts out of a R+L pr and he tried to play me off as stupid "They are the same, no L+R", when they were clearly angled as to L+R , I had to go to PPl to get a refund otherwise he ignores you. I went to Feedback and imagine that, the auction completely dissappeared and shows only a "Pay Now" in my Won area, which of course I did using PPl B4.

I don't sell on there any more....a few of the buyers I had dealings with would never be happy....no matter what I did. Never got any negative feedback, but just got tired of dealing with it. Still buy on there but will not from a seller with bad feedback or overpriced shipping.

Well said, I just consider the shipping as a starting price, and go from there, always remember to add it into the final price. But once you bid, your committed.

I here what your saying. I sell stuff and specify shipping on my own Usually I have to find boxes and find bubble rap and **** like that which is work so if I work I should get paid? IF that ***hole wants $20 bucks for shipping then he should get it as you stated. I think you report him there is way to copy his email and sent it to ebay they will handle it. Everyone says ebay doesnt police their site good enough but I had a guy unhappy with his item so after the fact he bids on two other items of mine and leaves negative feedback on both items imediatly. To top it off he sends ebay a report that "item not recieved" So I filled a claim back and they pulled my bogus negative feedback and kicked him off "no longer registered user" Hell probably come back with a diferent email but ohwell. Report that ***hole bottom line his response was way out of line. Later Dave

  28. This shipping charge thing is gettin' real annoying. I've bought a bunch of small items on e-bay and virtually never pay the actual shipping cost. Case in point - I just received a piece of grill trim for my '39 Plymouth. I paid $20 and shipping was $6, the actual cost was $.87....... I just sent out a money order for some bushings, again shipping is $6. I'm real curious about what the real cost will be.

A bit over actual shipping is ok w me but not **** , I mean gas, tape etc costs money. So if its $10 or under on bigger items I don't *****, $20 on a .87 cent actual shipping charge is over the top to me. Glad I don't sell - too much of a pain. I'd rather sit at a swap and drink beer ;D

His response was very immature. Finish the deal and never buy from him again. I've only bought a couple of times and never sold. $ 20.00 does seams like a lot to ship, but he may be covering his time also. At Christmas I was shocked to pay $ 90.00 to ship 3 boxes UPS. Everything is getting expensive.
