I drive the car because it's MINE.
It hard to keep my dad outta my car(not like he doesnt have several of his own!). I went away this weekend and my dad called and said he was 'driving' my car. My mom called me 5 mins later and said he was racing it up and down the street! I might have to take the keys out of the car! She said he said he was proud that I had so much respect for my car and the speed it has, but he doesn't! I just found pics of it from sunday and I didnt take it out! Another time he called to ask me if I knew my car went sideways! I don't know what I'm going to do with him!

 

No "Lady" here... Junkyard Jan sums me up rather well. I'm a big rough old dirt trackin' hot rod bitch who'd rather walk knee deep in mud checking out boneyard heaps than go out for a fancy dinner. Give me a motor to build or a roll cage to fabricate and I'm happy. I cuss like a sailor, smoke like a chimney, drink plenty of beer, and don't allow anyone to put my automotive knowledge down because I'm a woman. Other than my family and dog, hot rods, customs, circle track cars and my friends who love 'em too are my life. The HAMB has gotten to be a big part of it too. But don't get the idea that I'm unfriendly....I've never met a stranger, treat others as I like to be treated and enjoy people..

I think this happens to all of us. I used to get annoyed too, but now it's kind of a fun game. And besides, if these guys aren't going to give you the time of day simply because you're a girl at a show, is it really worth it?

I grew up setting on a milk crate watching my Dad do bodywork. By the age of four I was handing him the next tool he needed. Sundays were spent looking for barn finds. My first car was a 49 Ford Pickup that I bought in the 8th grade. I do 99% of my own work. Suspension, engine, welding, paint and bodywork. I am a gearhead!

I'm the baby greaseball helping my Dad in 1981. He had three girls, and I was the last one, so I got to be "the boy."

 

I am Breeder's Wife (like the name doesn't spell that out). My husband also spends a great deal of time on here so I decided to start posting. Met a lot of great people through the HAMB (yes, you vagabonds and hunnert car pileup boys and girls) and it has done a lot for my husband. I am sure that the kids will post in a few years as soon as they are old enough to drive!

 

Thanks All for the shout outs! I showed the mrs. all (except for the I have a crush on Brandy part!!) BUT she is still "hesitant" she feels out of place, so I'll just let her <---(bad choice of words (let her)) but you know what I mean, she'll "lurk" around...Ken

My wife is Miss Cadillac on here. Shes one tuff cookie.

People ask me..."whats your wife like?"
I say......"shes 6 foot tall and italian"

and just the other night. we walked into a book store and this guy starts asking us about my car. every question he asked he looked at me. every answer that was given was out of her mouth.

No need to be hesitant...I know I was at one point, then for some reason my inner rocker I dont give a crap girl came out and shes never really far from the surface. My mom felt 'out of place' until she got behind the wheel of her own car.

That's insanely adorable. I love it when hot rod guys have kids. There's nothing cooler to me than a big, tattooed guy at a car show toting his baby around. Start 'em early!! My dad sure ruined me!

Well I am not as BIG as I would like to be, but I AM heavily tattooed and I take my girls to EVERY car show!! I am taking the baby to Viva if I get to go!!!...Ken

 

One day she'll be on here. Be persistant! She'll come around! We always do.

My two older brothers tell me I was born with a dipstick in my hand and oil in my blood. My two younger brothers introduce me to thier friends as "My hotrod sister Carrie". I am not a mechanic, but my older brothers taught me how to "diagnose" problems, those lessons made me one of Wichita's first Lady Service writers for an American Motors dealership here in the late 60s.
