Well, this is indirectly related, as I'll be using it for building my car.....

I was looking on the HF website and found their MIG cart on sale for $39.99. It wasn't worth the material & my time to make one at this price, so I went over to my local HF store and the cart was $49.99 ! I asked the cashier why there was a $10 difference in price between the net & the store ? He told me to print out the info from the web and they'd honor it - I had it with me and they did !! Nice little cart for $40 + tax. Just a heads-up - if you're going to buy any significant items from HF, check online, print it and take it with you, it might save you a few bucks!!

My apologies if this is already well known, but I just found out about it and figured I'd share it.

They are pretty cool at the store near me. I always print anything I find online and bring it with me for the very reason you stated. On another note, has anyone else noticed they aren't sending out the 20% off coupons anymore?

word of advice- don't load their carts up too much! I stuck a Lincoln SW Tig 175p on the bottom shelf of a "Heavy duty- it'll support 500 pounds bla bla bla- two level cart and the damn thing collapsed after pushing it around the shop! Metal's as thin as paper

i got my catolog in the mail today and it has the english wheel listed in there for $249.00..and has a planishing hammer for $114.00..there was something else in there that i thought was kinda funny...in the john kelly dvd he talks about using a palm nailer from home depot..for 100 bucks i think ..they are listing 1 for 4.99 and then another 1 for 39.99..saying its used for auto body work...the funny part about that is i just watched the dvd for the 1st time last night and watch joh use the nailer and then seeign it in the hf catolog today..but i think im gonna order the planishing hammer..thats pretty cheap for as little as i would use it

i've tried using the palm nailer for sheetmetal work, it doesn't work too great. it depends on the pressure of you pushing it against the metal to operate, ie. you push, it hammers, you let off, it stops. so you really have little control. i suppose it would work for rough shaping before planishing, but IMHO i'd just as well swing a hammer and have more controlled blows.

If you shop around at Harbor freight and look the tools over you can get some deals. You buy fromt he catalog unseen you can get screwed. IM buying one of ther emetal brakes shortly but IM going to the store to check it out andmake my mind up.
I can buy a brake at harbor freight her eno shipping $199, local tool shop in same town $389 same size brake, but the harbor freight one has a stand with it.
There air tool work great to. I have a whole cabinet full.
Die grinders for $9 hell I run the piss out of it for two years and its still going. That was every day abuse in a shop.
They do put things int he catalogs cheaper and you have to watch that.

Although I've got just about everything that Harbor Freight sells that's cheap but actually worthwhile already (almost all bought after turning up in the oh so frequent sales fliers), having them open up a store just down the street from the house is almost too convenient.

Yup, I did the same thing. It's still pretty top heavy and the construction is sketchy at best.

I got the blue one and just ***embled it. I tossed all the cheap **** nuts & bolts out that came with it (first one stripped when I went to tighten it) and replaced them with grade #5, 1/4-20 hardware. I put my Hobart 187 on it and it seems to be pretty sturdy.

if you want a nice welding cart just glomb on to a good shoppin cart.i got one and with a few mods i got my 110 mig on top , the bottle on the back by the handle and my 225 ac/dc thunderbolt on the bottom. i made a 25 foot cord out of 6 guage wire and im good to go for just about anything.i just got a tig torch tha runs off the ac/dc welder , i just got to figgure out how to hook it up and how to cool it (it was free!) mike

  20. I am slowly replacing all my HF **** with quality USA made tools. A piece of junk that functions poorly or breaks isn't a bargain no matter how cheap it is.

I allways thought it was kinda stupid to buy a cart for your welder when you could just make one with the welder!
But I guess the metal might cost more than the cart.

It's also easy to spend $30 on wheels. While I'd never advocate taking a cart from their lot, we've all seen smashed carts 2 blocks away. That's more like a public service :D

Nope, I think if you were caught with it, it'd be considered 'receiving stolen property', least if I owned it, it would be.

if you go to your local grocery store, you can most times get a cart from them that got wacked by a car or something for usually nothing.you would be suprised what is really out there for free if you only ask. i would never advocate stealing, that just brings bad karma down on you, nobody really wants that. mike

Who was it that said " I'm not so wealthy that I can afford to buy cheap things"
Our addiction to cheap offshore made consumer items is a major detriment to our own economy, we need to get back to buying the things that we make here in North America even if we have to pay a premium.

Have the HF "Blue" cart, couldnt round up material and wheels for the price of the cart . Moved it from my place to neighbors on many occasions, no problems.

  30. Fwiw my pal and I hit the Henderson, Nevada (adjacent to Las Vegas) HF store today.

I'd been waiting for the 20 ton press to come on sale and finally got a flyer that said it was $179. down from the list price of $249.

When we got to the store we found it was $148.
    I grabbed one.
Have yet to put it together, a couple of days off.

It does look a little lighter duty frame-wise from the one I bought maybe seven years ago, but it should do what I need.

They have a lot of in-store sales that are unadvertised due to compe***ion with another tool store not too far away.

Cool part was, go a couple of miles west on Sunset and you'll be next to the airport.
The city built a large parking lot next to the fence so airplane buffs can watch the big jets land and take off.

Fun day, helluva Mexican food lunch at Toto's in Boulder City on the way home.
(Go into the shopping center just off the first in-town stoplight and look at the inside corner for the restaurant.)

Terrific salsa, cold Mexican beer, cool price on a big tool purchase . . . what more could a guy want...?
