I bought a old 50's chevy off the hamb here (actully my first non-Studebaker car!), and if I can get it from Pittsburgh to Ida Michigan (far SE corner, south of Detroit), I can get it relayed up to me here is cold northern Michigan. Anybody going empty that way in the future? I can fork out up to $125 for the haul. Thanks Kent
Kent - Don't mean to burst your bubble, but the fuel and turnpike fare alone for that trip is over $150.00. I just had a car hauled from Harrisburg to Detroit twice as far); the driver kept all receipts; my total for fuel and tolls was close to $350.00. If you're going to have a private party do it - expect to pay a buck a mile minimum; a commercial (read insured) hauler is more like a buck fifty, and an enclosed trailer is even more.
The last time I was on the Turnpike it actually cost me more for tolls than for gas. Did you know the Indiana Turnpike is run by a South American Company and that the PA Turnpike is next??
Thru Ohio from Toledo to the Jalopy Showdown in PA was over $40 just in tolls. We don't have any toll roads in Michigan so it's not something we are use to.
If you do it right from Pittsburgh to the OH border there would be no toll. The n from the OH border (eastgate) to I75 is $7.50 for a car Can the car be driven or does it have to be towed?
What kind of time frame are you looking for? I've got a rollback and I'd be willing to haul yours up there for $125. My next weekend off is Feb 24-25 if that works for you. Pm me and I'll give you my number. Fred
