Can anyone help me understand why some of my photos won't post. I keep getting a notice that my photos are to large for the site. I have one photo that will load but the others (taken with the same camera) won't post. Is there something I can do to post the others or is there something I need to do different when taking the photos?
You either have to "resize" and resave your photos at an acceptable size....or load them to a host site like WebShots or PhotoBucket where you can just link directly from that site to your posts here. http://www.webshots.com/ http://photobucket.com/
Digital photos are measured by the amount of memory they use, and even if two photos are the same size physically, one photo may contain more "information" than the other because of the amount of clutter in the pic or even a difference of colors. One photo may be mostly black and white and very simple and another may be full of detail and colors, so the second one would contain more "bytes". It sounds like you are right on the edge of going over the limit with your camera. Look at the settings for photo size on your camera and step down one size and see if that helps. There are many image resizers out there for the photos you've already taken... do a Google search for "Image Resizing" and find one you like.
Your photo software may do it for you automatically, look for a Web/ Email/ Blog (or something like that) button. It will reduce your pic to a more internet "friendly" size.
Another thing you can do if you get good at playing with pictures is to crop them, so you just post the important part of the picture. here's an example... notice that the picture would not have to have been shrunk down so far to fit the size limit, if the outsides had been trimmed off first. Most photo editing software has a crop function of some sort, in mine I just select a rectangle where I want to crop it, then got to "image" then "crop"
Hey Trucked up, Another way change the photo size is to put it in Paint (I think that Paint comes in the Microsoft bundle in most PCs) Click on "image" then "stretch and skew" and change that to 70% Thanks for the post I'm learnin' from it also,Smokey
Squirrel & Yekoms, thanks for the advise on improving the photo post. Thought I did good just getting to this point. Being 60+ years old and only using 2 fingers to type I'll probably hold off making any changes for a bit. This puiter stuff is as Forein as workin on a Honda Car. It's a Slooow learning curve for this Gray Beard. Gonna try my hand at a photo of my Model A in the for sale adds. The Wizzard
