what car would you treat yourself to? something that you've been jonesin for and its been just out of reach..I need to be careful or six months from now I'm gonna be standing around with all these cars and broke. Have to start selling them off to survive (so what else is new?)...I'm going to treat myself to a Studebaker Avanti 63-64 R2 supercharged, nice and low with torq-thrusts...been lookin at a friends 50 Packard 2DR. sedanette, already has slanted B posts..then theres the 33 Ford I've always wanted..what would you just march out and buy for yourself?? no worries, no wife naggin at ya...

I agree with FF, another house with a big ass garage (preferably detached) and enough left in the slush fund to finish the project that pleases you the most the way you want it...

and the other thing...you know the one with the large...well you know

I've been thinking about the same thing for a while since our house came back with a much higher appraisal then we have in it and it always comes back to either a 32-34 Ford or a 55 Chevy. I've had a STUPID number of cars over the last 20+ years and those are the ones that are on the must get list.

2 years ago I sold a house in Florida, whose price had trippled in 5 years. Paid off all my bills, and my brother and I packed a 53 ft semi with my projects and moved back to the area I grew up in. Bought a fixer-upper house for $20K cash, and took a year rebuilding it while I decided what I wanted to do. Now I work on old cars when I feel like it. I've never regretted it.:D

A front engine junior fuel dragster. Small block Chevy on nitro. And enough money left over to hire someone that knows how to tune the miserable things.

I have a buddy that has a bunch of cool old cars. He's in his 50's and still rents from the old lady that has many more cool cars than him...difference is,she works hard at collecting rent once a month...he works hard all month to pay her! Not tryin to preach, but pay yourself with something that will pay you back every month for the rest of your life and build yourself a bitchin car!
Then again a bitchin old custom with history can be a good investment in the long run!!!

  11. I would track down the cars I've sold off in the past and finish them the way I always wanted to.

My first thought would be a 1967 427/435 hp tripower vette or a yenko or copo car. I would also like to have my fathers 32 three window that's in my avatar, but that car was long gone before I new anything about cars. I think we all have a car wish list, but as I get older the best thing to do today is reinvest in real estate. If you ask most of the people that go to barrett jackson auctions, they made alot of there wealth in real estate over the years. Buy a couple of propertys and if you still have a desire for a project borrow off the property.Good luck,Dave.

  23. I hate for you to go through the stress and trouble of trying to decide what to do. I will help you out - go buy a used taxi cab & then send the rest of the money to some deserving soul in Arizona.....:D

  24. An early Barris style '41 Ford coupe.Maybe have Cole do the body work,Olds or Caddy motor.

59 Impala, 348 4 speed, smooth glossy black and white. Maybe one of those ultra low production nascar ( Z11-427 ) lightweight 1963 Impala's. Pretty much anything large and fast with a W engine in it.

  26. Well, if it was me, I'd buy rental properties so that I'd be able to buy lots of cool junk later. But... let's pretend I could just 1-800 a cool car and have lots of money left:

'63 Belvedere hardtop, aluminum front fenders, flat hood, glass front bumper (vacuum metallized), 14+:1 roller cam stroker motor, original MW intake, vintage Jardine or Doug's headers, Torque thrusts, pie crusts, Sun tach, pushbutton 727. Black w/ black interior; no vinyl top. Stock height; nothing out of the ordinary - except the idle quality.:D

    Or another geo metro...

Any Ferrari. I don't care what it is, even one of those kinda-ugly Mondial 4 seaters. As long as it's a real Ferrari and not one of those gay VW or Fiero kit cars. If I have a choice, and I can be realistic, a red 308 GTS. If I'm really dreaming, a '61 250 GT California.

I will own a Ferrari one day, no matter what it takes. I've often fantasized about selling off all my mediocre stuff and buying a Ferrari to drive around. It's doable, decent Mondials and the occasional high mileage 308 sell in the 20K range, but I always puss out and never do it. Some day...

I have some buddies that sold off the house because it appraised really high. bad part was it took all that money and more to get into something better.

It is great if you sell off high and move somewhere cheaper and make out like a bandit!

Invenst it in another house, if you already have one use it to increase the value of it. Just incase your state has capital gains tax from land sales (like we do in califonia), the only way around it is to reinvest in land. Then take out a second and buy what ever makes you happy, hell buy them all one at a time and sell'em when you get tierd of 'm.
