I bought this dash for a friend of mine to put in his truck but he didnt have any money:rolleyes: So the next best thing was to use the dash myself. So here it is all cut down for my "A"t***ude:D

    Damm bird **** welds,

    I love my Flap wheels

A small amount of body filler and it should be good to go.

I welded the new dash to a 30-31 dash rail so it can be removable if needed.

how much off the rear are you going to leave. They are deep

  11. Looks really good shortened.

    And a glove box as well . . . I'm envious.

Welding the dash to the A's dash rail was a very bright idea.

And if you had a change of heart somewhere down the line you could get a re-pro A dash rail and start over.

Very cool, I'd like to see it in the car as well, going from a basically vertical dash to that wicked beast is gonna cramp the interior

  13. I don't think the dash sitting a little further back is gonna cramp the interior.:)
Regular dashes on the thin-fenders (A's & Deuces etc.) sit pretty far forward.

The only entry/exit conflicts I've had in my 32 and 31 on 32 rails roadsters was the steering wheels.
    14" aftermarket wonders fwiw.

The A is a little more difficult to enter cuz the wheel sits a tad lower than the 32's, but it's not bad.
More noticeable right now cuz the 31 is up on ramps, but when it's on the floor, no big deal.

Perhaps a different story if S**** Iron's car is chopped and channeled, but even then, you just have to learn how to get in and out.
Entry/exit on my 32 differs between top on or off.
Much easier with the top off.

Good point on the ergonomics of it all, but it should work just fine.

Love the two reveals coming to a point! Aren't '59/'60 dashes the coolest ever? I've got one of these to put in my f-100, but I think mine is getting sectioned in the glove box area, haven't decided yet. If you want to get rid of the ashtray, p.m. me as I need one. Great work, show pics when you get it in!

Nice work! How far over does it move the steering column? I cut down a '35 Ford dash for my car and took the extra from the sides to keep my column where it should be:D

Thanks for all the nice comments on the dash.
The dash sticks out about 6" futher than stock. I have the steering column for it but thinking about using a tilt to give a bit more ease getting in the car. the new dash moved the colomn 1/2" towards the center, i didnt feel this would be a big deal. I cut the dash 1 1/2" from the end of the spedo pod, and welded it overlaping the 31 dash about 1". I plan on matching a pannel on the doors so they flow into the dash. I will post some more pictures tomorrow in the car.
