Here are some pics of the low bucks supercharger that I just put on my coupe. It is going to fit under the hood but I may do a side scoupe for some cold air... It is a bd-11 on a 383. with a 4-speed. fun fun fun. see ya on the streets.
$500 head unit (used) $100 pulleys hat $188 new (could be cheaper) Fuel pump $115 New (I converted to a boost sensitive aka drilled and installed a fitting) carb upgrades....(floates $24 and some epoxy) exhaust pipe for intake $20 Brackets (i designed and cut out of s****) Reverse flow water pump New $35.............................. The look on the kids face in a new mustang...... priceless
The air cleaner is temperary. I need a small round air cleaner like they run on 2 4's. I did the install in a weekend with a few friends. The car will have a full hood with just the headers sticking out when im done.
Its around 9:1 383ci. Junk heads and 6psi. I am going to work the bugs out and turn the boost up to around 9psi. The only time that I will turn the timing up is with race gas or e85.
was going to ask what type of pump you were using.....i bought a used procharger before christmas.....had talked about sticking it on my model a ....bought a late model malibu to stick the motor in ...but sold it last week....so i am back to a model a install....what are you doing about timing and such .....? brandon
I really like the car and the blower idea but the mixed genres kinda make me itchy. It'll definitly look better with a hood covering it. Think about making the brackets, belts and pipeworks fit in with the period look of the car - then you could leave the hood off. Not trying to be negative, my opinion, your car.
I am using a carter pro series mechanical pump that I got from jegs. If you need pics of the alteration then I can show you. all you do is drill out the vent on top of the pump and press a piece of brake tubing into it. Then you run a rubber line up to a fitting in your hat so that the boost pushes on the diaframe of the pump giving you one more pound of fuel pressure for every pound of boost. this can be done with any pump but it needs to have a high gph (at least 120) Mine is 172. I have the timing turned down quite a bit for safty at first. its at 8 intial and 28 total.
For now its in the form follows function faze. The car used to have fourbar and I finaly got around to it. I am going to make it fast then I will make it look good. But not if it gives up alot of perfomance. after all I have a hood.
how does it GO? haha. now get rid of that exhaust pipe intake pipe! and that tight 180 bend. i see you're running the Extreme Velocity carb hat, yeah they're a few bucks more, but there's power in there. i bought one, then sold my old procharger hat for almost what i paid for the EV unit.
