I know it's been coverd before, and even then people keep askin, but here is the way I did mine... I tried to post under the "Tech" but it didnt let me.. When i first frenched my taillights i just JB welded them on.. well with all the body work that I am doing to it I just thought i would do them right, so I yanked off the stock bezels and made my own. I bought some sheetmetal and made mine about an inch deeper and angled the top of my lens out. I welding some brakeline at the edge to get the curve... here are a few pics......
Looks way cool! But thats not really frenched is it? Frenched around here means flushed with the body or sunk in.
Nice job!! Looks real clean.. Thats pretty much what i did with mine.. I wanted the same clean look and also wanted to extend the quarters a few inches.. Our's are similar Tony
Tony - I really like your taillight treatment ... call me perverted, but they look kinda ******l. Mmmm... ******l. That would be right at home with some Dagmar bumpers.
Tunneled?? Now your just making stuff up! If you look at the picture of him setting on the car, the lights are out further than stock. Now if you removed the factory trim, and had the light back inside the fender, that would be frenched. But we are getting into that shoebox a chevy or ford thing... Whatever you call it it looks VERY smooth.
You guys are combining terms. Frenched is smoothed to the body. Tunneling is added to recess things like headlights and taillights. In this case it looks like he partially tunneled the lights on the top side with a sculptured effect. It looks really good - very similar to mine.
one sweet looking ride! sounds *****in! my manifold broke on my 6 so its got a nice rap to it, not really liking the smell tho
got any more pics of the housing before it's in stalled....not trying to steal your idea, but been thinking about something simular on mine...also because i need to tunnel mine for stupid reasons...
sure dont bro, but i cut out the part that hold the lens out.. I will take out a lense and post hem so you guys can see how i leaned the lenses...
