Drinking my morning coffee this morning and checkin my emails and saw this headline. dont know if he is a HAMBER . i didnt know the man but i knew the car very well. i would often admire it at the local shows. Based on the car our hobby has lost a valued member. My heart goes out to his family and friends. http://www.wfsb.com/news/10990276/detail.html
Makes you wonder what happened to cause the fire like that...............Gas tank wouldn't have been under the cowl, would it. Makes me wonder about my cab mounted tank in my truck.
That is tragic. The bad thing for everyone else is the fact that the news station identified it as a "Model A hotrod" and legislators love to outlaw dangerous things like hotrods. They could hold this up as an example of why they're passing laws to outlaw vehicle modification.
They'll never be able to outlaw modifications of anysort because too many people with too much money will never allow such a thing. Hell if they outlaw it then there will no longer be any modified bullet proof limos for the wealthy and powerful to cruise around in. I would also suspect that just about every legislator with children also would be under too much pressure from they're own families to veto such a bill if it ever was brought before them.
What paper is that Car Nut? I looked at the Courant on line and there wasn't much information. Dennis
Well look at it this way, how many jobs would be lost. How many major companys would belly up? Something like that would cause economic mayhem not to mention imposing on certain constitutional freedoms. If they were to outlaw something like modifying your car then they should at the same time outlaw adding on to your house or garage. I would think that the number of deaths as a result of do-it-yourself home additions is far greater than do-it-yourself hot rodders. Wouldn't you agree? It's tragic when anyone loses their life but accidents do happen and my prayers go out to the family.
I haven't read any of the recent posts about this on the other thread about it..but it said the guy had just gotten the car out of the shop that day???I'm damn curious about what work was just done on it,who did it,and why he lost control, plus the reason for the fire..If this has already been answered on the other thread, sorry for the wasted post.
The news made the front page of the Journal Inquirer. Although for some reason it is not on their web site.
