Saw a flawless yellow restored 51 merc convertible sell yesterday at the RM auction in Ft. Lauderdale for $92,500 if that helpds any.
10-4 I'll keep an eye out. As long as it does burnouts and/or shoots fire it's allowed in to the after car show car show.
I took my family on a whale watch in province town this past summer and could have sworn I saw that merc parked on main street. I 'm probably wrong could have been another merc that looks just like it.
haha sailor!! u know that was me! does your "family" always dress as a indian chief, construction worker, and police man. ???? YMCA!!
Why don't you sell some t-shirts jack***?! Make some $$ and keep the car. My fave merc of all time. It will always be the "Jerkury" whether the new owner likes it or not!!!
ive sold overseas, sometimes it goes great, sometimes its a royal P-I-T-A! The worst when I sold my 51 Buick 2 a guy in Sweden...sat in my driveway for months, dude shows up (non runner mind you) with a wooden trailer that was like 5 ft off the ground, and no winch! Its great if you dont want to see it again, and for the money paid and how scarce parts are its going to a good home and will be well kept 9 out of 10 times.
Let's all buy some shirts rom Dave that way he doesnt have to sell the car. Between everyone on the HAMB that loves Dave and his jerc, we can come up w/ whatever that pile is worth. Post a pic of the shrts, whataya say $10??
I hope you don't have to sell the car. I'll take 4 shirts, that leaves only 3,996 shirts left to sell.
thats not a bad idea bill.. but i dont even have shirts! its ironic that yoiu said this, one of the reasons im selling is im closing the shop and starting a t shirt silk screening biusness,, and have to buy all the equipment. im staying in the same location, just not working on cars anymore, especially insurance windshield replacements.. so keep your eyes peeled for peabody silk screen t shirts and more

WTF?? This is turning into that scene from "Im gonna get you ****a" where the hot chick takes off her fake leg, **** plate, arm etc. No more insurance jobs is one thing, but what about the rod and custom angle?
hopefully i will be to busy for that too.. its time to start making a living! the custom stuff was fun, but it sure didnt pay the bills! but who knows i may still take in a chop here and there
You can take the boy out of a hot rod, but you can't take the hot rod outta the boy! Dave, this is just another chapter in your life and there's better **** on the horizon. From what I've seen so far, your a survior. I have no doubts you will succeed in the new business. And I also know you well enough to know that no matter how busy you are, your gonna be building another rod or custom...
Awwwww, isn't that touching...and just last week you were calling him the no talent, short, fat, ugly guy! Kidding aside, Dave is a talented guy and you're right Luke, he's a survivor. He's got the drive it takes to make it in any business he wants to.
don't sell it! take out a small business loan! anyway, good luck with the t-shirt biz. keep in mind that with a silkscreen press you can do a ton of other stuff not just shirts. stickers, signs, posters, etc. if you have any questions about it just send me an email. i only print one-color stuff but some friends of mine have more professional set ups with multiple color capacity, lightboxes, dryers, etc.
thanks tony.. iwill be calling you for some insight into this.. i dont know anything about it. especially the computer end of things.
The 51 is the most desireable of all Mercuries and on eBay the world is your marketplace. Just be honest and forthright in your descriptions and the sky is the limit. As with all transactions these days be wary of scammers and remember, you dictate the terms, they want your piece, you just want their money!!
OK Dave I'll take out a "small business loan" and buy the jerc, then you have your money for the shirts. I drive it a few times and make sure to oyster all over the steering wheel. Next we make everyone on the HAMB buy lots of shirts. Lastly you buy the jerc back from me once you're out of the red. Done Deal. I'll take delivery this weekend.
Good luck with the business Dave. Your a talented guy, I know that you will do well with it. BTW the top on the 51 is finally chopped and I've moved onto a custom grill. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it all back together. Thanks for all your advice, it really helped me out. Count me in for a T-shirt!
