Hi, I've been looking into a tunnel ram for my 460...The guy told me that the tunnel ram he has is for a 429SCJ and it won't fit the 460...What is the diffence in the ports or the bolting pattern...Any info you have would help me alot...Thanks for any and all info you have...I'm sure I will have more question later...

The difference is all in the port sizes. Cobra jet heads have m***ive ports compared to most stock 460 heads. The intake will bolt up just fine to your 460, and would run as ok as any tunnel ram runs on a big block. You may want to port match your heads to the intake if your really worried about it.

  3. The SCJ ports are considerably larger than the std. heads. The intake will physically bolt up, but the runners won't be close. It is very difficult to match, & the process can cause a drop in power if done poorly. The only current tunnel rams are for the SCJ-style heads, or the A460 heads, neither of which are cheap, or particularly easy to work with on the street (the A460 is only streetable for big stroker engines with limited use; it's a race head).

Offy may have made a TR for std. runner heads, but it's been out of production for quite some time, if in fact they ever made one.

Depending on what you want to do, & what parts you are using in the engine, the five basic street intake choices are the dual plane Performer, the Performer RPM or RPM Air-Gap, the Weiand Stealth, or the single-plane Torker II, and the Victor Jr. Trick Flow also has a new single plane intake that is designed for their heads.

For the average mildly ported, street cammed 460/466, it's hard to beat the Performer RPM or RPM Air-Gap. Tell us a little more about what you are doing & what it's going into.

I can get the tunnel ram manifolds for the 429-460 CJ engines from Offenhauser. It will work on the non CJ engines. Port size is different, but if you use a cobra jet intake gasket it will still work.
