I have a set of 15x6 wired unilug wheels. I wasn't aware that you need some type of washer which fits in the back of the wheel to prevent a sloppy fit. Can someone give me a sight where I can purchase these washers an maybe even describe more detail what the heck my friend was talking about? Also, can I run the wheels without those washers?

  2. Yes you need the washers! Check with your local tire shop. I bought them locally at a tire distributor. 75 cents each.

Their offset, thats what makes them uni. Probably wreck the crap out of them and the car without the washers.

The washers are actually centering rings. Any wheel that fits properly (and has tapered lungs) uses a centering bore to locate the wheel and the lugs simply hold the wheel on the hub. Slide one of the wheels onto your hub and see if the wheel has any up/down play. If it does, ideally you should have some sort of a ring to help center the wheel. I haven't seen any rings in a long time but they shouldn't be too hard to make.

You do need the washers. You can buy them at most decent wheel/tire stores that sell a lot of aftermarket stuff. Just make sure they are the correct ones for your brand of wheel AND your brand of car.

You don't need washers on the back of the wheel. You do need washers under the lug nut. Any round wheel washer will work. They used to sell an oval washer for unilugs years ago, but they are not needed on a five lug wheel. Ive run em that way for many, many years with no problems. Some unilugs had a slight resess around the lug opening to accomodate an oval washer, so in that case you would want to use oval washers. Bottom line is LOOK AT IT and figure it out.
