I remember it well. I played it constantly. I was amazed that a game would let you customize the car and paint it. Even though on my 4 color screen the paint jobs weren't worth the trouble. Now they have all these fancy new games like Gran Turismo where you can customeize the car. We need a GT quality version of Street Rod. I might just play that game.

I still have that game somewhere, but I lost the book. Somehow the book was needed. I forget why.

There was a guy working on Street Rod 3. He was just doing it in his spare time, because he liked the first two. Doesn't look like it's going anywhere though. http://www.streetrod3.com/

I agree that a modern version would be HUGE. Heck, I would buy a PC and set it right next to my Mac if that's what I had to do.

Only problem is...Gran Turismo is about as close to actually tuning/driving a race car. Except, the only "Customizing" it lets you do is attach a wing and whatever randomly selected wheels are available.

Maybe...something more along the lines of Forza/Midnight Club...only without the whole "arcade racer" feel...or all the "bling".

It's not a free download, you gotta pay to subscribe to get access to the "free" downloads they offer.

At least thats where the download links took me, your milage may vary.

That's what I got too. :( I used to play that game like it was going out of style, or wait it already was in terms of technology. :D Great game though.

I used to LOVE this game. I had the original, plus a disk that was bought later that allowed you to buy different cars. I always ask people if they've heard of it, and that answer is almost always no. Wish I had a pc to play it on.

Both 1 and 2 were fun. Did anyone ever beat 2? Whenever I raced on Mulholland, I would always hit a large gray streak in the road and wreck.

Yeah, Mulholland never worked for me. I just spent my time in the aquaduct (is that the right term?) and saved my pennies that way.

Man- that takes me back to goofing off in high school CAD cl***... I wonder where I'd be today if I had actually learned CAD instead of how to race for imaginary pink slips.

Here is a link to Street rod 1 and 2.

    http://www.abandonia.com/genre.php?search=street+rod

I beat Street rod 1 never did beat street rod 2.

As for SR 3 its not going to go anywhere, graphics are not that good. I did all the sounds for it, but never got credit oh well. More or less there has not been development on it for awhile...

I wish there was a game like that with decent graphics....

I'm new here, thank you for welcoming me. My grandson found a orginal disk of street rod and ask me to set it up for him. Things went well until in asked for the color of car on page. I don't have the book anywhere and I can't find it on the internet. Does any know where I can get the key to start the game? I'd kind of like to let him ( 8yrs old) know about some of the cl***ic cars and cl***ic PC games. If you can help I would appreicate it, post or email me if you can send me in the right direction. Thanks BCWT
