post "All Time"... Hotrodding's Perfect pictures

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Machobuck, Feb 9, 2007.

  1. DAMN IT!! ...This pic doesn't enlarge when you click on it........!

  2. Hey Kev, where are all those garage shots with KS Pitman and SW&C coming from. The one with the kids and the hemi looks like its right out of Ward Cleaver's garage!!:)

  3. The garage shots are by Wayne Arteaga from St Louis, the big name gasser teams would use his garage for maintanance while in the area. Wayne also had a Willys coupe gasser along with his partner John Helmuth. Wayne is a photographer and still has his coupe and also a willys pickup, he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet!

  4. Are the pic's from a book by him?

    Gang-

This is indeed one of the best threads here in quite some time. Wouldn't it be cool if someone with time enough could assemble all these pix in an album somewhere?

One of the things I particularly enjoyed about many of the photos here were the activities going on around the cars - people tuning or otherwise thrashing on them, guys just hanging out (and showing off examples of period dress), etc. Along those lines, here's my submission -

Its a midsummer's night in 1968 - the golden age of front-engined fuel diggers - and a classic situation is unfolding once again, at perhaps the most legedary of all dragstrips - Lions! There's nothing else like it - fuel dragsters under the lights in Southern California.

On the line is the beautiful and fearsome Beebe and Mulligan fueler. The air is thick with anticipation and nitro fumes as the Tim Beebe-tuned '92 shows 2-foot flames and "Moe" carefully eases to the line for a pass.

In the background, a crew member holds a shop rag over his nose in an attempt to minimize the stinging effect of the nitro, while the starter points to the staging bulbs, indicating all is ready. Every eye watches intently as the 'tree begins its countdown...

For my money, it never got any better than this.

  12. I reckon somehow ryan should attach this post onto the sign-up page and when a newbie signs up they should first have to sit and go through every single picture in the post....that way i`m pretty certain it would get through to people exactly what this board is all about.......

keep `em coming, i`ve got a 320gb external hardrive to fill up

That looks like the Karl Orr roadster that was in GNRS at Pomona. Gotta love it!

These are straight outta my dad's photo album. One is his crew and the other is a couple of cars headed for his shop circa 1956. He owned a Texaco station with a resto shop in back from the 40's until the 70's. I could post the whole album on this thread. It's just so damn cool.
