I know these wheels and tires aren't everybody's cuppa tea. I'm trying different looks on these chrome wheels. My buddy loaned me these mid 60's poncho hubcaps to see if I liked em. I kinda like the look but it's hard to tell until I get the 3" blocks in the back. What do you think? Honestly. Too new looking?
Not bad...but too "new" for your ride. Not as lame as "dubs", but still too new. They are decent looking caps, though...I'd go with chrome reverse, but that's just me.
I hate them actually... I like the idea of a narrower tire back there just to give it more visual height...
I'd like to see some dark charcoal steel wheels with some of those early poncho baby moons... and of course black wall bias tires...
Those hubcaps might look better on Black wheels. Right now they look too much like repop Chrome Rally Wheels.
Look like ****. I like the last pic, you need to go see Speedy Bill and get some of those Hurst Cheaters and be part of the club like Ryan and I . Seriously, I think the 29" tall cheaters would make the car.
Nope...that ain't the "Rocky" (tm) look. Trust your instincts, they've done you good this far. I think if you stripped the black lines off the caps and ran them on black steel wheels it might work, but that car needs a more moonish cap. Chrome reverse need no cap... other that one of the bullet jobs like flt-blk's tech a while back. While you are finding all these chrome reverse wheels, find me a set in 4.75 pattern! Brian
Visually, I love the look of those caps on that car. They really accentuate the 'Art Deco' look of the car. But I'm not looking at them traditionaly, just design-wise. I believe it makes it look more upscale. **** the nay-sayers.... Keep-em! FS
Hahahahaha! Rashy said it.. I picked the least desireable year of a car always thought of as an ugly style to play with....I already know that but I'm gonna try to make a silk purse out of it.
Rocky, Looks like JimC and I are the only retarded ones here. I actually like them because It's a change from the stock look, just something that can bridge the gap between stock and what you are going to end up with. I don't know how JimC will choose to go but for me make it firing squad, and no blindfold. haha!!! Frank
hey rocko, i don't mind the mid 60s or so caps, but they do look too much like rallye caps for me to be totally down with the look. it's your car though, jus my opinion. as far as baby moons go, riddle me this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=34209&item=2467343719&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT look just like the centers of my 50 pontiac sombreros. with mine, being full sombreros, there are three clips revieted on the wheel that go into the back of the hubcap. you can score the full sombreros for a 49 or 50 pontiac cheeeeeeeep on ebay and most times you'll see that the sombreros are dented, but the dog dish is straight as an arrow. just detach the two and rock and roll
They look like wannabe 8-lugs to me. I like the early look with the black steelies and the baby moons.
Chromed rat...I ran those caps on my 55 poncho wagon and loved 'em. Painted the wheels to match the existing body color [see photo] and ran wide whites. I will prolly make some wheels from Injected A's 55 poncho wheel centers and a pair of 7 inch rims with either my 41 caps or another pair of 49-50 poverty caps. They'll be painted body color eventually...
I don't have a close-up of the chrome wheels on the 41 but I do have this one of 49 caps on 55 wheels..
[ QUOTE ] It's not the hubcaps... [/ QUOTE ] These are the type of questions I got from my X-Wife...! And as you can tell by the "X" in the ***le..., I'm not the one to ask!!!! Mark
Not a bad rim/cap, but doesn't suit your car Rocky. Solids & simple caps for sure. Anything with spokes looks too street-rodder on something like that, IMHO. I think those caps clash with the horizontal details on the guards/fenders.
Thanks all....I'm pretty much stuck with the wheels and tires until I can afford something different...the hubcaps don't belong to me. I gotta give 'em back to my buddy. I appreciate the honesty everybody...
