Ive got a 59 GMC burb with a mild 327, and no radiator. Got a few questions for you...

Ive seen the reproduction cataloges list diffrent part numbers for Chevy's and GMC's for these years. What were the diffrences? Just the outlets, or were the dimensions much diffrent?

Anyone know of a sutiable readily avabile radiator for these? Im talkin junk yard stuff... Any ideas? I think its APROX. 24" wide and 20" inches tall... But there is room to make something a little larger work if I do a little bit of fab..

Any ideas on findin a stocker and havin it redone? Think it would keep it cool enough? How much havin it redone would cost?

Thanks a ton in advance for your help.

i got a 65 nova v8 radiator in my 57 chevy pickup with a small block. i parted out a 65 nova to build this truck so i used what i had. i dont no how many v8 early novas you might find in a junk yard these days but it fits with easy to make brackets.

If I recall you have about 33 inches inside the inner fenders, or at least you do on a Chevy! When my 55 gets done someday it will be running a 65 GTO crossflow that fit right inside the fenders. You will have to make some mounts but most of the 60-80s GM crossflow radiators were about 32 inches wide. Find an v8 80s Camaro at Pickandpull. Builds some mount and you will be good! Even if it shoots craps pretty quick you can buy a brand new one for like 120 bucks! Good luck.

That is the same thing I did with my old '59.

I bought a new four core radiator for 67-69 camaro on egay, it was perfect size and sits lower than support on my 56 Chev Truck. I tapped a piece of strap on sides and bolted to stock holes works good.

I used to have a 51 Chevy truck that I put a 350 in...I used the stock radiator...It cooled it okay...I have a cousin building a 58 Apache with a 327, he just ordered a new radiator for it...costed him about $275...I'm not sure where he ordered it from, it was one of those Classic Chevy truck parts catalogs...So they're out there...I've seen plenty of guys use just about any kind of radiator from the junkyard in there rides too...It's whatever you are budgeted to do and make work...
