It kinda reminds me of some kinda car you would see on a video game with guns through the roof and flame throwers through the roof, and a clown would be driving it. Travmann
Sorry, this thing is beyond ugly! The front end is a disaster of epic proportions. What was the builder thinking? Was he taking some of Dr. Timothy Leary's special concoctions. Must have been as this thing must have been conceived in a really big hallucination. No other excuse I can come up with. UGLY, UGLY UGLY!!!
It is really ugly. Just doesn't seem to fit right. I still hear myself saying "Damn, I'd like to have that".
WIth nip here and a tuck there (like ditch those crazy bulbous headlamps) it could be neat-o! On the other hand, fix it up as is, paint , interior, and enjoy a real old time homebuilt custom that EVERYONE who sees it will remember!
It just doesn't meet the sensibilities of what a custom should look like nowadays, I'm sure when it was built it did. The Kaiser-looking roof is kinda interesting. And the tailights are nicely done.
LOTS OF POLENTIAL - draggin *** - is right with the right touches it would make a nice ride. The headlight bezels are still too big maybe some '54 Merc would look good. Its at $10,550 on bay at this time, reserve not met yet. CRUISER 49 quicky in paint[/quote]
Yeah the hubcaps are awsome. The rest of it is horrid. Just becuase its an old custom doesnt mean its a good one.
BTW...the ebay ad says something about it being built by Sam Barris in the early `50`s I believe. Heres the text from the ad.....THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN 1954 IN FRESNO, CALIFORNIA. AS THE STORY GOES, JOHN TURNER AND SAM BARRIS BUILT THIS CAR IN TURNER AUTO WRECKING. THE CAR HAS P***ED THROUGH MANY HANDS AND AS FAR AS THE RUMOR GOES, IT HASN’T BEEN ON THE ROAD SINCE 1963. Kinda funny that it was built in `54,stored since `63 untouched...and now has `65-`66 headlights.....
Don't matter that car is ugly just cause it's old and customized (using that term guardedly) doesn't make it anybetter looking. Kaiser, customline, F-1 roflmao
saw it at CHRR, I believe I also saw it for sale at Turlock several years ago. the Barris rumors were going around then too. as for ugly... no one would or should build one like that today, but since it's an old survivor, I think it deserves a bit more respect than what it is getting here. with the 65 headlights it makes me wonder if that was when it was built, or perhaps a redo. early 60's chrysler outside mirrors also. I like it. if I were rich I'd buy it and restore it...
funny thing about the headlights, whatever it was they came off, there was an original one nearby at CHRR. mopar something or other... don't remember what.
