Got invited to ****** some Mexican, masked, wrestlers and ring girls at the Mayan Theatre,Thursday night,in Los Angeles. It was called "Lucha Vavoom". Gabriel, who puts on Blessing of the cars, asked me to do it. There was a fifty something Ford pickup,'57 Caddy,3 Mini Coopers(to bring the midget wrestlers in),my sons shoebox,Chris's '31 Ford sedan(Pasadena Speed Shop),and this thing called a Tatra. The wrestlers get in our cars and we drive them around to the front of the Theatre, reving our motors, and let them out. About 250 people out front waiting to get in. Cameras, video crew,it was wild! You can look up Luchavavoom.com,and see what im talking about. I'll post some pics.

Here's the Tatra. It's Eastern European. Loved that side vent. It would look good as a skirt for a shoebox. The engine is an aircolled, rear engine,HEMI,V8! Uglier than ****,but thought it was cool.

If you check out the website,it's kinda like an underground cult thing. Lots of celebs, young rich kids. I alomost got in a fight with Gary Buseys son over a light of his cigarette! He start giving me **** cause I was in the smoking area, and didn't smoke, and didn't have a lighter. He's a ****! My buddy Chris pulled me away before I hit him.

Jeff Lane's got about a dozen Tatra's...even got a Tatra truck with a rollback bed on it. Saw him with an Isetta and a Messerschmidt and some other dinky little car--all 3, loaded on the Tatra truck

    Hey Bad Bob,
It seems the Tatras were good at killin Nazis during WWII!

The model 77 was a sedan with the air cooled engine/trans.
located out back, VW like, but much longer. The German br*** would
commondeer these and head off into the country side on ice covered
roads. If you've ever driven a Bug on ice ya know where I'm goin'
here. Well the Tatras would go like hell in a straight line, but handled
like a shopping cart. These things killed enough Germans to prompt
the high command to forbid any officers of the Reich to ride in them.

I love that engine. I bet it would look boss with those valve covers (all 8) chromed, stacks on the dual carbs and sitting in a hoodless roadster!

  21. Older one in the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum. They have 2.

Here are a couple more Tatras. The B/W picture is of the original rear-engined V8 prototype, circa 1936; the silver one is postwar. I think they're incredibly cool!!

I was blown away when the guy opened the back to show me the motor. It smelled just like a VW. The one he had was a '70's model.

Isn't it weird how all vdubs smell the same! I always liked that about them.

  27. Tatras were very advanced cars with some very out of the box thinking, I have seen a few of them and they make an amazing noise! I would love to have one of the pre/just post war deco looking ones, really amazing car......Think along the lines of a Tucker that really worked....and looked pretty cool too.

  30. Inside too, until recently, I think it was the brown hay-lookin' stuff in the seats.
